Hi folks, Has anyone got the new leices firearms dept extension No if there is one ,
Tried using the one I have but No not recognised 🤷‍♂️,
Sent them an email last Thurs regarding a new rifle I’ve bought ,& all details of rifle & seller , normally get an automated reply instantly BUT nothing ,
Trying to find out if they’ve received it & stay within the law 🤷‍♂️😂

When i renew, sell or purchase i scan and then email the relevant Doc's, very shortly after i receive an automated reply saying that the email has been received. ,That should be enough evidence that you have sent in and registered any changes as per instructed, in my opinion any phone calls are difficult to track and is simply "he said you said" with emails you have at least proof of all correspondents.
Did you receive a confirmation email ? if not its unusual.

Copies of all emails are saved in a separate file on laptop, if needed all in one place, and transfers and purchases are printed off and kept in a folder.
I may be a bit OTT but previous job i needed to be.

Fellow Leicestershire resident here. This is what I do to 1) speak or leave a message and 2) notify a sale or disposal:

1) If you dial the main number it will go work through a series of options and eventually get to a voice prompt that says "If you know the name of the person or department you require please say it now". Ask for "Firearms Licensing" at that point. Note that it may be that being, yesterday, a public holiday that they may have a "grace day" today, Tuesday?

2) As to notification I use their online Leicestershire Police and go to "Apply or Register". You can then download an actual copy of the infirmation you have entered with its reference number. I keep these in the desktop of my laptop in a separate file named as "Police" but you could also print them off an keep them in a ring binder or documents wallet.

You then get a dropdown with six choices, or so, and select the one relevant to firearms and shotguns etc.

The the bottomost one of the choices which enables you to notify the transfer of ownership of a firearm or shotgun. Which when done you have the chance to view and use a go back choice to correct before selecting a submit choice. When that is done the document has its unique reference number created and also the chance to download it.

The document when done will look like this. On the example the personal information I had to input I've put in as italics and changed to something made up. I had to insert a space in the fictional email address to stop the SD engine thinking it genuine emal and creating a hyperlink! What it advised and/or asked you as you filled it in and the questions you needed to respond to are in bold. As far as I know every police force will also have on their website a similar click on to REGISTER (note REGISTER and not REPORT is what you seem to need to select) that enables this?

Registered firearms dealer

Certificate number
West Midlands 20/3456

I use the Individual/Company Name field to add any other details that I think relevant. Such as in the OP's case "Online Registration of Aquisition advised to Leicestershire Police by email on Thursday 21 May" as the inputting box allows as many characters as you might need. That way that information also is preserved to be a belt and braces in the circumstances that the OP is having concern over.

That’s the reason I need to speak to them ,
I do exactly what you do & email them straight away , which is what I have done this time also ,
BUT normally you get an automated reply instantly , which I haven’t had this time , same email address as before , tried ringing , it’s saying extension No doesn’t exist 🤷‍♂️
So I’m just checking they have received it ,
But to cover my a**e , I’ve sent a letter aswell by recorded delivery

Very poor coms indeed, I'd be sending the same email and copy higher up. And phone, stating in the email the previous attempts to contact.
Best of luck, it's annoying isn't it specially when you get pulled up for very minor issues.

Just be careful. I sold a shotgun 4years before my licence ran out. All parties notified correctly.
On my renewal they thought I still had said shotgun. I had to tell them where I'd sold it 4 years ago or they won't be renewing my licence. Luckily I sold it to a dealer and he had records of me selling it and also who they sold it to. If it was a private individual I'd be stumped.

Would it not be have been written, by you, on their Table 2 on their SGC of the person you originally sold it to? And they would at that time have notified their own police force of their acquisition of it?

I’ve always found Leicestershire fairly good and yes Ive submitted notifications via the portal and on occasion not received the automated reply.
Ive a direct number if you want it via a DM

Yes your right but I didn't keep a note of where it had gone. Just crossed of my ticket as per rules.
The buyer will have had to notify their acquisition of it. But, yes, I've had the same regarding a gun I put into auction and was able to quote the relevant FTC number as I now download the finished document. I am glad that it all got sorted in the end for you.

Luckily I'd traded it to Forest lodge guns. Great shop, full records and quickly sorted no fuss.

Why wouldn't they be renewing your licence? That's a bit harsh, when the error wasn't yours.
Mind you, it seems some police forces are a bit more understanding than others: At one of my renewal inspections they (NWP) found that I had a shotgun that wasn't listed on my certificate, so they just added it for me, no issues.

(The back story is that it had originally been on my cert, but it had gone out on long-term loan. This was notified, and it was taken off my cert. When the chap who borrowed it eventually returned it, several years later, I wasn't at home so my wife took it from him and locked it away. The paperwork associated with its return never got done).

The onus was very much on me to find out where it had gone. An hour of frantic head scratching and a few phone calls and all got sorted. 4 years is a long time to remember. If the receiving cert number were written onto my ticket then all would be well.
