Gents,

I'm after some inspiration and would like to see some pics of your enclosed high seats please.

I intend building one or two for dual purpose deer control and foxing throughout the year.

Here's one a friend built It took a couple of days - he couldn't get the carpet to lay flat :D

smart job , i would have the flaps opening inward and the ladder on the side , dont fancy going on my arse down that ditch

Flaps on the outside keeps the rain off when you stick your gun out and also puts your face in a shadow when looking out.
The ladder is at the back, no ditch there.

The light coloured pictures are it in it's newly built stage, the final ones are after a coat of dark wood preservative !!!
At that height, I'm not sure the Deer would see it no matter what colour it is.
It's against a hedge in the corner of a field too, so well sited in my estimation anyway ;)

Like the three strand poly rope holding it up!:suss: , it should be 10 meters away from the power line pole, does look good though!

Thanks for the pics gents, just what I was after. Food for thought.

We have had some pretty horrendous weather lastnight with very high winds & I woke this a.m. to find 2 of my neighbours garden sheds in various states of distress getting blown up my street.
Might see if I can use the spare undamaged panels:D

Cheers

Hi RB
My tower is still there as it has been for the last three years. It has a very heavy base and staked. The polls are phone lines. Its also tucked in the woods.
I bet those who would find fault would like to sit in it when 10 fallow walk out.I am going to risk it today as the weather is going to improve. We have two arm chairs in it and a bench seat. All my big bucks use that field in the winter and are quite safe as we manage them not shoot all that moves.
good shooting brian

If you're interested I have some designs from a German Hunting magazine for various highseats, including enclosed designs. Some of the latter look more suitable for Stalag Luft III :-D

The text is all in German, but the plans and dimensions are easy enough to understand! I've not tried making one but they are self-explanatory.

Let me know if they'd be of use.

This is one from my friends ground in Germany.

There is a company that builds the bases out of metal. All you then do is slot the round timbers in for the legs and build the shed on top. A great design IMHO. I will find out how much they are and where they come from if you like?

Where I have stalking in the UK, it would get burnt or vandalised very quickly hence why a metal leanto is what I prefer!! Also I do not sit out in my highseats all night like they do in Germany, so the enclosed, carpeted, reasonably warm highseat is great in the cold, wet and windy weather!!!

Cheers

I assembled this on my own then stripped moved and reassembled without assistance, Wired down it has withstood the december gales. The wind hit 100mph last night so need to check it out today but I expect it is ok/. You are not far from mee if you want to see it in the flesh, Jim

Once again thanks for the pics gents, some really good ideas there.

willie_gunn- PM sent re: plans, tanks.

r.atkinson - in same boat as you where we stalk, problems with poachers at present and unwanted attention would inevitably result in vandalism, the work that has gone into that german highseat would be prob be ruined in a few weeks.

jimbo1230 - thats exactly what we need with regards to being easy to move about, good idea to keep it sectional for transporting in a trailer and bob's your uncle. I hope your seat is OK in these latest winds, there is a lot of storm damage around me (inverclyde), neighbours shed roof was on top of the hilux this morning, thankfully no damage.

Cheers guys

carpet is now flat thanks to the drinks bar although the door slammed shut and hit the three china ducks off the wall which fell and broke the toaster , ontop of that there was a letter waitng for me from the local council wanting council tax..... land owner also not happy as tourist bus saw the top of it from the a30 and thought it was alfreds tower , but it does blend in well now eddy,

Darn it !! those ducks were given to me by my mother back in the sixties, she thought they looked good on Hilda Ogden's wall so she got a set !!
We did think about it sticking out a bit and did consider putting a minaret on top, but then thought better of it as that might encourage squatters, particularly on a Friday !!

Been and checked the highseats. Eveything is fine. A few trees over but no highseats affected. Transpotation,
