I remember those days. When someone stepped up to a .22 Hornet we thought it was a death ray! Did you have a lamp home made out of a car headlight and a car battery in an old army webbing pack?

Not quite that old, but heard the stories of the older boys.

We really don't know how lucky we are now with the gear and even waterproofs compared to just a few decades ago.
Just old enough to remember the choice between oil skins or wax was about our, both horrible sweaty things
