Loading for the 6.5x55

Hi load seems about right. My 140’s were at 2700fps and did the job. The 6.5 is very predictable in the wind and almost linear out to most shooting distances as opposed to bigger billets (30 cal) which are more parabolic in their behaviour to wind. One of the other great reasons to shoot a 6.5!
It's a relatively hot load, about 102% compressed. Pushing the limits of a 47 really, but its one ragged hole stuff. I would buy a 6.5-284 for stalking ideally, but now I have a blueprinted short action Remmy, and painfully expensive dies (again!), loads of brass, in all likelihood, I would chamber the next barrel 47 too.

To err away from your compressed load, if you can try varget speed powder (RL15 for example), you should maintain the speed and accuracy.
It all depends on the free bore.
Feel free to PM me Malc

Using RS62, have used RL15 in the past under 123gr, but not sure if it's well suited to the 140gr bullets ? I never really got round to trying RS52 except under 123 gr, and it was good enough. RS60 was too temperature sensitive, one hole one minute, shotgun the next.
Quite comfortable with the minorly compressed loads, and the RS62 appears to be more efficient under 140gr than it was under 130gr.
Will PM you for a blether anyway, been a whiley!

Hi all, I bought a sako 85 black edition in 6.5x55 this time last year and I’ve been running it on 120grn sako factory ammo for a year. I’ve saved up the brass and I’m ready to load it up. I’ve reloaded before so I’m familiar with the he process. Can anyone share some load data for the swede?
I’d like a simple, accurate hunting round to use on red and fallow. 120 - 140 grns. I don’t shoot at vastly long range and I like to keep things simple.
I’ll probably use either nosler bt or hornady sst

Thanks chaps
I had a Swede , I’d go with the nosler bt in 120 to 140 gr ( whatever shoots best in your rifle). I had horrible terminal performance from hornaday interlock bullets in 129gr.
Kindest regards, Olaf

Gamekings aren't bonded :doh: just plain vanilla cup and core with a boat tail. They still work though.
Soz !! Awks, new to this reloading game !
My bad, so please don't hold it against me. LOL!!!!!
Must have been looking at those dang Nosler thingeys before my fingers went to town.
What am I like :doh::doh:
