Looking for Boar

I work for a company that goes out of its way to support and employ ex-forces people - 'vets'.

One of our initiatives is to find a way of allowing those who still want to shoot to get out there, and do a bit. Vets usually fall into one of two groups; those who never polish shoes ever again, and those who do. And some like to shoot but don't know their way through or simply can't afford it.

It's a nationwide initiative, so I'm wondering if anyone had access to some wild pigs and would be willing to share.

Any takers?

There are plenty of companies that advertise Boar trips on the internet, try approaching them.
There are lots of VETs on this site that pay good money to go Boar shooting too.

I take it the vets already have firearms ? Would they not already have private shooting ?
Think you find it hard to get on some wild boar shooting for free that’s for sure !

Over here in Germany two local hunt leases have offered me free boar if I want to but as I have enough around my village which a a 4 minute drive home to my house I had to decline, it is hard to find folk that can spend 3-5 evenings per week out sitting it seems. The damage they do and must be compensated for is why hunters here offer it for free it is not a scarce commodity as is in the UK.

No, most of them don't. Finding your way through civvy street can be hard to do. And if you're not in the right place, it's even harder. It's a vet support group that's trying to help, that's all.

Didn't as for free, willing to pay but it's not 'officially' supported by the employer. But thanks for making it out like we're trying to get boar shooting for free - that really helps. I mean, big thanks. Really, really big thanks. You're a mensch, ever helpful, always there....

But it just come across to me that you didn't want to pay for it. people wont share any shooting not from my experience that is for sure.

I’m ex forces, don’t have boar but may have opportunity for a few fallow stalks into next year, pm me if you don’t want to post it in the thread

I'm a VET too and your post certainly looked to me as if you were looking for something for nothing just because they are VETS, otherwise you could have just taken up the offers that get advertised, both on here and on FB.
I'm not only a VET but a very old OAP too and, without over time, find it very hard to afford any Boar shooting.

Ok.
People are willing to pay. The employer won't officially get behind it or put their hand in their pocket.
Happy now?
The challenge is finding the opportunity. These folk don't mainly don't have a rifle or stalking experience so it a way of gaining exposure to stalking and target shooting. Start there.
