Magna ported double rifle, that is a new one for me

Oh Lord. Yes. I see it too at 5.50. I handled at Gastinne Rennette in Paris before it closed as a gunshop a BSA Emperor in .458 Winchester that had an earlier but similar system. I would have imagined that it miust have been extremely unpleasant to use. It isn't the recoil that should be an issue if the weapon is properly stocked at the correct length to the user. It is the muzzle blast. All these holes or slots do is increase that. Damned daft idea. Have the rifle stock properly fitted to you with a pad if recoil is a problem.

I met Larry Kelly once in the mid 1980s in Detroit about licensing the Magna Port work done in the UK, He was all about franchising the marque as a German pilot had already taken the German franchise. I seem to remember he wanted $50K for it which I did not have at the time.

Stunning rifles…… ported or not! Great video although I almost want to resit my DSC now just for the opportunity to call the ‘tush’ an ‘anal brush’!🤣🤣

I found this video of him talking to the Ferlach maker Schering, it has a 50cm barrel rather than the normal doubles 60cms, the maker loads special for this shorter length 8x57R cartridges to get the best effect. His own prototype has fired 5,000 rounds with 3x fail to fires. When Franz asked about regulating 4x barrels to shoot to same point of aim the answer was 10x times longer than a double rifle. Cost was not mentioned except that they had to have loadsa.

Shiering is a very innovative gunmaker. You will have also noticed those doubles have no open sights - just a scope.

The porting will be there to stop muzzle flip thus allowing a faster well aimed second shot.

I do like it that Shiering is combining both traditional as well as innovative designs in their rifles. Something that is somewhat lacking in the likes of H&H etc. They were once true innovators, but their current guns are pretty much what they built 100 years ago.
