Mauser M12 Aftermarket Stocks

Evening all,

I currently have a Mauser M12 Impact in .308 which is my primary deer rifle. Lovely bit of kit and does exactly what I want it to except for the stock!
I have comb raisers and butt extensions taped on left right and centre, and have finally gotten fed up with it…

However much to my disappointment, looking online there seems to be a lack of any aftermarket adjustable stocks that are inletted for the M12. The only one I have found so far is the GRS laminate sporter, which isn’t quite what I’m looking for.

I was wondering if any members on SD have experienced this, or if anyone has any suggestions/alternatives about how to resolve it?

Many thanks in advance,

Sandy

Have a look on here - FBT (Fine Ballistic Tools)

Not cheap…

Your in the same boat as me matey, like you say only the GRS stocks available unfortunately, even getting to the point of thinking about changing the rifle so I can have something more adjustable, which is a shame as I love it

Yeah I absolutely love mine.

Phoned Mcavoy guns today as had seen some on their website, but all out of stock unfortunately.
Then phoned Highland Outdoors who are UK importers for GRS, and they have informed me that they do not produce an inlet for Mauser M12s any more!

Might be a home job with some rigid foam and neoprene I think…..

I don't know for sure, but do all M12 actions fit in to the Max laminate stock. I have had an M12 Max for years and it has been a really good rifle. The stock is very easy to hold and use. Of all my rifles, I would say it is the one that is least fussy in terms of cheek weld and the eye falling naturally on the objective of the scope. I do use a fairly low sitting scope though on mine though.

Hard wearing stock that isn't too heavy and the action goes in and out of it (after cleaning or getting wet) and always seems to shoot bob on still. I did have a look recently at the price of a new M12 Max and nearly fell off my chair. I couldn't believe how much they have gone up. I got mine new for around £1400 i think and that was with a jewelled bolt as it was the only one they had at the time.

Anyhow, maybe you could source a second hand stock from a someone who has shot out the barrel and does not want to go through the hassle of putting a new barrel on a friction fit action. Think it would be a pain.

Or they also do a grey Max stock version as well. Maybe Mauser could quote for a new stock?

I was in the same situation to couple of you, didn’t want a laminate and all of the options for stocks are for the m18 none for the m12. So I ended up going down the custom route via Staffordshire Synthetic Stocks. Danny did me an RPA woodland stalker stock and inletted/bedded my rifle into it. The increased length of pull has made it more comfy for me, and the bedding seems to have improved the accuracy (although has always shot exceptionally well). This was all sub £1000.

That sounds like an option then. Just had a look on their website and the prices are very friendly….

Thanks again!

Yes, this is looking like a good option at last. I'd want to handle the stocks first and be weight watching a bit. Quite a round trip for me from West Yorkshire but I'd do it to get the right solution at the right cost.

Yeah, would definitely need to have a look and feel of the stocks, but might be the best way to go.

It’s worth giving Danny a call. He can do most things with a synthetic stock, including adjustable LOP and cheek risers… due to the fit I needed and the scope I chose the fixed option. I also went with the sprayed ‘mat’ finish rather than a camo pattern as preferred the grippy feel over the smoother painted camo finish.

Danny’s website is massively outdated, but his work was spot on… worth noting his timeframes were optimistic at best! Was 6 months from ordering to completion, with my rifle being with him for 3 weeks to allow the inletting, bedding etc

Afternoon James. Don't suppose you could send a few pictures off the stock you've had done. This would be appreciated, sounds like I'm in the same position as a few other members
