Good morning. I have a meopta artemis 2100 3-12x50. It degassed somehow and sent it for repair. I posted and received this after messaging them for weeks. Eventually rang and got a direct email for the guy who deals with my region his reply as follows
Dear Richie,

I would like to inform you that we have received your scope. This scope is older than 20 years. We received from you your registration for 30 years warranty. It has to be done within 30 days after purchase of product and has to be proof by purchase invoice.

Otherwise it has to be assess as paid repair and estimated price for repair this scope is 410 -470,- Euro + 30 Euro Transport costs.

Thank you for understanding.

Best Regards / Mit freundlichen Grüßen

I had to constantly message him and no reply.
Not sure scope is worth that. But his attitude was terrible and dismissive of me. I have sent swarovskis back and magic service. Sent a s&b back and repaired for far less than what they are quoting. I think he’s just doesn’t want to know. I’m contemplating getting it repaired just to annoy him. Any thoughts advice
Regards Richard

It does appear from a quick search of their website that this is the case - standard 10 years warranty extended to 30 years only if you register within 30 days. That's the current position of course, so unless you had some evidence from 20+ years ago that it came with lifetime / standard 30 year warranty (without need to register) when you bought it then I think you're out of luck.

Not denying that, but the cost is phenomenal

Use it during the summer, good older glass was not gassed.
A naughty would sell it on on the bay without a comment ref the leak.

I remember there are a few UK based optic repairers who have been mentioned on here. Might be worth doing a search and contacting them.

I have the same scope on my main rifle and also like it.

The repair costs are probably worth more than the scope were you to want to sell it, but might be worth it to you. I guess, only you can decide.

It is worth bearing in mind the need to register a product within a time limit, not that I have ever been bothered to do it though.

As said, there might be someone in the UK who can do it cheaper, in which case it would be worth it.

I had need to return a scope to Meopta some years ago and have to come to their defence and say that the service was superb and certainly up to the gold standard of Swarovski. I bought my Meoptas new (3 off and I still have two of them) registered the scopes and kept the receipts.

I think the problem is that they have had numerous different importers and distributors in the U.K. over the years and some have not been as good at representing the company as others with regard to warranties etc.

Buying optics second hand will often be a bit of a gamble.

I owe know. But Swarovski don’t need you to register etc within 30 days

Your scope is 20 + years old.
If it wasn't registered or the original importer didn't pass on the information when the distributor changed it will be out of warranty.
All you can ask of Meopta is can they confirm that it was registered with them when originally purchased. If they can't then your best option is to see if you can get it repaired cheaper elsewhere.
Unfortunately the difference with the Swarovski warranty is very much reflected in the price difference when purchased new.
