Hi Picked up a used pair of these beautiful binoculars a few months back for stalking. After I received them in the post, I noticed one of the lens locking rings was slightly deformed from likely impact. They work perfectly as far as I can tell with no fogging issues. However, I contacted Minox direct to ask if I could get these repaired under warranty. I was told in no uncertain terms, they must of been dropped and as such were not covered under warranty. I could not comment on this as this how I received them in the post. The seller was kind enough to refund 1/4 of the price which I felt was fair. I read some reports about a 1st class service with warranty repairs, in some cases replacing whole binoculars with new or very good used, instead of repairing. So I was fairly surprised to hear a very negative response from Minox/blaser.
There apparently used to be a well know rep called Ian Spicer, who would help Uk users get great service on repairs, but I can't seem to find a contact for him or if he even works for the company anymore.
The sad thing is, I asked if I could buy a new locking ring and they said there were no spare parts left for these binoculars? Considering they come with a 30yr warranty and were circa £880 that would appear very unfair and surely breaking some sort of law on service warranty?
Here are the binos, they are lightest in that class I believe and run pretty close with the Leica Ultravids 8x42 & Swaro 8.5x42EL.

Any idea's if they are pulling a fast one on warranty repairs or if this is just bad luck that they have dumped the spare parts in the bin?
