As there are a lot of ex military on here any one seen that the MOD Have said they issued hearing protection that wasn’t up to scratch and people may be due compensation for hearing loss.
Apparently camo pattern is the in fashion this season. Just can't see it myself....i doubt they will have heard about it
have you noticed cadets at some events doing parking?Apparently camo pattern is the in fashion this season. Just can't see it myself....
If you'd only received an interim payment, then it would be pretty difficult to sustain an argument that the RAF had actually settled any potential claim from you. Possibly worth some further exploration. Best of luckI was issued an 'interim reward' for service attributable 'bilateral sensori neural hearing loss' in 94. The RAF told me at the time I would be contacted further, but I didn't ever get anything back from them.
Now I hear of tens of thousands being awarded as opposed to my paltry amount. And guess what? I'm prohibited from a further award![]()
Foam plugs and basic cans for we RAF chaps on the squadrons. Trouble was, even when in buildings most of them were single-course brick and tin roofs so jet noise was still a problem.Don’t remember being issued with anything back in the 80s??
Might well be worth investigation. I've a photo at home of ground crew holding a spitfire while it was harmonising its guns. I think engine running and several guns/cannon firing at once. Possibly one of them had a free hand to cover one ear.Foam plugs and basic cans for we RAF chaps on the squadrons. I remember being under a Tornado when both engines were run up. Even with plugs and cans the noise was still hideous. Didn't really think about it at the time (s!)
We lost the detuner at St Athans and ended up doing full reheat runs in the open on an improvised arrestor hook/wheel chock rig. I remember going under F4s in reheat to check the resin anchors were good - talk of being turned to jelly. Doubt I’d even get a look in for compensationFoam plugs and basic cans for we RAF chaps on the squadrons.
