Moderators error, shooting times

@Conor O'Gorman , your article in shooting times could be misleading to some who only skip read (or look at the pictures), the caption within the picture states "Sound moderators are no longer included on the firearms licence", however the article goes on to say you'll press the new government to remove them.

The last Government never got time to implement it. The web page notes it was the last Government's measure, while we may hope this Government will implement this measure, we have to wait.

I was told by my FEO a few weeks ago “I’m confident in saying at your next renewal moderators will not be on you FAC”…

Thanks, the caption in the magazine is obviously wrong, and the online version does not have the caption and is here:

I’m not too confident now Labour is in, but certainly haven’t written it off as the FLDs want it to happen - which I think will count for a lot.
If they're clever they'll push it through asap

"Labour reduce the number of legally held firearms by 25% in the first few months of government" or something along those lines.

I had a conversation yesterday with an RFD and he told me mods are not coming off ticket. The vote was held. Happy to be corrected on this.
How could he possibly know that? They haven't even finished crunching the consultation responses yet, let alone published them or the Home Office civil servants formed a finalised view. I also know of an RFD who happily post new airgun moderators to people, claiming they don't need to be sold face to face, which they absolutely. Being an RFD doesn't guarantee that someone knows what they're talking about.

The police want it, the trade want it, the overwhelming number of consultation respondees will want it, even the Institute of Sound (or whatever they're called) want it, citing the health and noise impact benefits. I would be really surprised if Labour goes against the proposals. They're really not controversial abs they're going to be busy with crossbows for a few years, anyway.

We worked it out at around 33% average (straw pole on a different forum). My fac with 12 items has four mods listed. Excellent pr for new government.

I guessed that most rifles had a moderator but very few shotguns and there are more shotguns than rifles. Either way it's a big "reduction" so looks good in the press for them.

I can't work out what will happen to the price though? It should go down as RFD fees will no longer be required to post them. However, much like getting rid of stamp duty for a while, it just meant house prices went up by the amount stamp duty was taken off🤦🏻‍♂️

True but very few shotguns are held on firearms certs so they can still claim a reduction of about a third of firearms. Remember the adage, there are lies, damned lies and statistics!

What happened to proof reading! I remember the front page of the BSAC magazine a few years ago with Will Garfit
swinging through a shot (posed shot) with BOTH EYES SHUT lol

It slipped through proof like a fox going in an open hen house door...

I rang Simon Reinhold up "Have you seen the front page picture" God what have they done now lol

well if they are going to screw us for £200 our multiple shooting organisations should be pushing for operational improvement and there's one.

Getting rid of variations within calibre groups but sadly I don't rule the world
