Mounted Torch / Lamp for Night Hunting

Listen, you want to come on here and challenge me fine. Back it up or go elsewhere.

You made the statement, now back it up.

See 21 above

Before you fall asleep drunk pull up the wildlife act.

Go to section 23 (6) you will clearly see it is stated they can be shot anytime under licence.

now go to section 23 (8) this is the section 42 details.

When you have finished reading that...go to bed.

Nightmaster 800 is a great torch and proved itself over a number of years. I have 3 with different lenses though largely redundant now as I have gone over to NV. If you are interested pm me - I am up North about 100 miles from you!

I've never shot a deer by lamp-light, but I have been shooting foxes with rifle/scope mounted lamps for over 40 years. I've had a number of up grades over the years as you might expect.
Nothing else that I have used comes close to the performance of the SniperHog (with red pill) that I use now. I very much doubt I will ever need to upgrade from the SniperHog unless I win the lottery and start using thermal as a result.

Which model of SniperHog are you using? thanks

I've used a sniperhog 67? For the last 7/8 years. On a good night I've lit up deer at over 600yards not shot them but shootable.
Fab bit of kit, I don't use the rat tail as I like the dimmer switch on the end of it, and I ended up triggering the rat tail when I had the rifle on my shoulder. And I get tangled up in it.
As said above turn the lamp on well above and slowly biring it down on target, pull the trigger. Approx 5secs is all you need.

Has anyone used the LEP’s rather than the LED’s - the look incredible for the size and weight
Yes . I have the vastlite versa bow.
Brilliant little torch that will reach out further than you will probably want to shoot at night.

Won't the beasts see that hi-viz orange coated torch? Asking for a freind!

It's dark, if I drop it, I have more chance of finding it. It also matches my head torch. Oh, I do like to be colour coordinated. Matches my hi-viz jacket and trousers too

I use a SniperHog 66 LRX. It's a few years old now and they have since changed the range available. The new Hyperion versions look to be the dog danglers.
Of course, mine is scope mounted with a rat-tail switch for ease of use.

One tip .... If using a rat-tail don't use the oft supplied self adhesive sticky back to fix it to the fore-end. Stick a bit of the fluffy bit of black velcro to the stock with superglue, then fix the hooky bit of velcro to your switch the same way. Do it the other way round if you want to be forever getting the rifle stuck to your jumper, pocket flaps, gloves etc ;)
