Muzzle loading rifles

Anyone on here have a black powder muzzle loading rifle that they have conditioned to shoot deer in the U.K.?

Im developing an itch that I may have to scratch at some stage 😂

I would love to think so! In scotland a muzzle loader probably wouldn’t meet the 2450 fps min muzzle vel. But no min in England.

I know a gentleman who took several red stags with a Victorian era muzzle loading stalking rifle. And in the US they have specific seasons for muzzle loaders. They make a big hole that lets lots of blood out.

Stalked my first deer with a 308 with open sights, second should have been with a 2 grove mortimer double percussion lock.

That's an itch yet to furfil.

I remember seeing a video of a stag being shot in the Highlands with a muzzle loader similar to the one above, apparently it met the velocity and energy criteria.

Accompanied a guest many years ago to shoot a muntjac with a muzzle loader. I carried rifle to provide backup if his weapon unsuccessful.
Don't know why he bothered asking me, he knocked it clean off its feet at 70/80 yard's range. Upon skinning, the bruise around entry hole in ribcage was huge, markedly smaller exit side.
Memory serves me right, it was 9 mm/ 360 , muzzle loader rifled percussion cap. Patched ball used.
