My On The Bench Today Thread

These work really well, unfortunately they might well be the only two we ever see, masking the blades is a bit of a faff.

Also, in comparison to that earlier, single knife photo, it always amazes me how the application of the blad edge really transforms the aesthetics of the knives, I know it sounds and is obvious, but it really finishes it off.

Those blast finished P90ULs from a few posts ago were concerning me slightly, compared to the original stonewashed finish, which is such a hard wearing one, the blasted one will mark and scuff, it always does, it felt like applying it was a bit of a backwards step.

So I immediately though re-stonewash them, I strongly suspected that where the blasting had been would still show through, so I ran a few tests...

Usually the stonewashing takes around 2 hours to apply, I gave these 30 minutes, and wow, what a result!

I love them, the blasted area much tougher than it was, it'll still probably scuff and mark over time but I don't mind that, as one client put it last night... It’ll be like a wood handle. I like to see the life build up on a knife. Mine are working knives, so I’m very happy with some ‘patina’.

And I agree.

I love these now, I adore the way that all the corners of the handles have been 'knocked' back' to bright, they feel amazing in hand too, job done me thinks :)

Your client is a man of taste and discernment, obviously…
