Namibia

I was there for work a couple of months ago. Flew in to Walvis Bay and had a hard time getting past passport control, as had been told I could get a visa on arrival without issue, but was not as easy as had been told by colleagues. When I got there they wanted to know why I hadn’t got a visa before travelling (their website wasn’t working), eventually managed to get my company to email a Letter of Invitation (colleagues hadn’t needed) to show the immigration guy and then he let me go through the visa on arrival process. While I was waiting he gave quite a few folk a hard time, including a guy that owns a house there and has been waiting years for a residence permit so he can actually stay permanently.

i will apply online then. you are right it does say you can get the visa when you land

I was there a couple of weeks ago. Landed at Hosea Katuko airport where, you, presumably will land. $1600 Nam dollars paid by card on arrival. I’m not computer savvy enough to compress files/photos so I had to fill the form out. I was actually through quicker than my friend who had done it online. When you get indoors veer to the right, pick up and complete a form and head in .

Not sure if any direct flights these days to Namibia from the UK. Last time we went flew Edinburgh to Cologne and then Eurowings straight to Windhoek. All very simple. I didn’t, but plenty of passengers were obviously hunters all taking rifles and all seemed very easy. Not sure which carriers these days fly direct to Windhoek from Europe.

Lufthansa/Eurowings daily from Frankfurt and Munich into Windhoek. Ethiopian from various European cities via Addis Ababa to Windhoek.
Otherwise it’s into Johannesburg and then to Windhoek.

The visa arrangement changed last year. Now you should be getting it before you travel. We did last year and no problem at all.

Be careful with Lufthansa as they do not carry firearms from Heathrow only Bristol nowadays
