New design butler creeks covers

They look like the 'hinge' has been done away with and replaced by two flexible pieces of plastic that 'bend' to allow for opening. I wonder how long they will last before constant stress caused by bending splits the plastic.

Should be an improvement if the choice of material is right and at least there is no cross pin to fall out!

It may be the front cover is quieter on release than the old ones which is another bonus.

After breaking my second set, I gave up on them . . now I use the supplied zeiss bikini covers attached to the body of the scope with a couple of small zip ties. . . they work better, are quieter and don't break if you look at them the wrong way !!!!

Check out some of the reviews on amazon, utter ****e by all accounts, seems like they have continued in the same direction as the last style.

In any trade you are only as good as your last job and I think if Butler Creek are to survive as a brand they they need to sharply improve. My new Bushnell scope came with free BC covers, you certainly wouldn't want to buy them separately, the build quality appears to be comparable to a toy out of a Christmas cracker. atb Tim

have had the same set of butler creeks on my rifle scope for at least 7 years and i have used the rifle on the hill a fair amount cant really fault the ones i have

My Butler Creeks were new last Autumn , the one over the front lens broke within 3 days and the one on the back fell apart last week. Some of my friends from the Rifle Club have BC lenses that are many years old but the ones of more recent manufacture seem to be exceptionally poor quality. atb Tim

My old Butler Creek scope covers lasted a long time until my rifle slipped to the ground breaking the objective cover. Since then I have gone through 3 pairs in as many months - suggest poor quality on newer batches. Suddenly the Swarovski flip up covers don't seem too expensive at £60 odd pounds.

Do these new ones spring up? They look like they need to be pushed open :???:.
I don't mean to sound like i am sticking up for BC but i have only broken one flip up in over 2 years use.
