New Home Larder installation (Warning - terrible display of DIY skills)

Just thought I would post up some progress on my Home Deer Larder/Butchery/Processing unit for anyone who is interested in creating something similar.

The space I am converting is within a stone outbuilding/garage and measures approximately 4m x 5 meters. The outbuilding had a rotten timber floor, which we removed and added a base of compacted crushed concrete and laid some drainage for the chiller and processing rooms. a Visqueen membrane was laid and then a concrete floor poured (the most stressful bit by far!).

We are now in the process of setting up our chiller room which comprises 80mm thick Kingspan refrigerated panels and a Zanotti Monoblock condensing chiller unit. Lots of hand riveting and flashing (I cannot under any circumstances recommend the screw fix bargain brand hand riveting tool as it is a total arse!).

Next steps - laying a self levelling latex screed upon which our non-slip vinyl floor covering will be laid, then on to constructing the butchery room itself.

If there is any interest, I will continue to post some pics of our progress. We hope to get the thing up and running at some point in the new year (and maybe even to serve some local Perth shire stalkers if there is any interest).

Cheers,

RS

Concrete poured .... phewww!!!!

Now flooring channels drilled to concrete , and slide the refrigeration panels on to channels and rivet together with flashings, lots of expanding foam (horrid stuff) and sealant involved.

Will post more pics as/when I have the time.

Cheers!

cracking, well done on making the effort, i know from experience its a lot of work but it is well worth it when its done.

I think you're selling yourself short, from what I can tell it looks like you've made a good job of it!

haha you are too kind. . . . there have been plenty of f**k ups and agruments compromises made during the project.

You misspelt "learning".

If everything went right first time round then no one would learn anything.

It looks great, even more so for a first effort.

Nowt wrong with the work RS it's a tidy job, I will add there are always going to be fek ups along the way, hindsight is a great thing.
With me, I will do something and when it's finished I will say, wish I had done this or that.
Keep the pics coming :thumb:

Very nice work, fair play. Just a heads up on the self levelling latex screed, it doesn't actually self level and needs to be worked along the surface preferably with a good clean long trowel.

Thanks for that by the way. I plan to spike roll it (to aerate and settle the screed and then to float it. That’s the plan anyways! Will see how it turns out!
