New mod new zero ?

As mods new now more “accessible” and we all rush out to get new toys. I was just musing on re zeroing when swapping a mod.
Haven’t swopped a mod yet so no experience.
Just wondering the good folk of SD have found when fitting a new mod. With half a miserly mind of the price of ammo.

Generally mine shoot high and right when compared to zero with mod on. Onviously the muzzle flip more controlled mod on. Weight etc

The barrel harmonics are quite likely to be different so yes you will need to check zero and adjust if necessary.
I have two moderators for my .22 rifle and even with a miserly .22 the point of impact changes depending on which one is fitted.

^^^ As above - expect a POI change. When I tested this on 2 .308s it was more than I was prepared to tolerate so re- zero’d, but I also made a note of the with/without distance just in case I forgot the mod

The other aspect to consider is that a home load may not perform the same with a different moderator or it might work better or it might work worse.

Better to spend £30 on checking then f**k up and injure an animal

I run Varmint x 58 grains through the .243. Started a new batch so checked zero and slightly high and left ...far enough to need adjusting

Check zero, but I never really find any big difference to zero to be honest. Also if its a couple of clicks or 1/2 inch something else could have shifted or a change in the barrel cleanliness, who knows really.

Both of my T8's are 30cal and shoot the same if I swap them over on both C/Fires

I imagine people are talking about changing mods as in, replacing a t8 for example with a hausken or dpt. That weight difference will likely change stuff

Yes I got that part as there would be a change if I shot both rifles with out one, disappointed but not surprised in the OP's question.

You should not need more than say 3 shots to sort a re-zero of a new mod !
Shoot at your normal distance , correct if required and check impact .
I am talking about traditional Glass , not Digital ( i find those a PITA )

Many good memories,l reckon it stopped the wobblies when l had 2 or more foxes running in when l was calling them.
