New pickup

Depending on towing requirements I would go new L200 or new Isuzu.

5 year engine and drive train warranty I class leading and even though it's a 1.9 it goes like hell and pulls 3.5t.

Personally towig wig isn't important to me so looking at L200's

always a case of personal experience but I wouldn't touch Ford with a barge pole. Had one on an estate and needs a new engine 40k miles and 3.5 years old so out of warranty nearly 10k repair bill.

I actually went for a test drive in both the manual and auto 1.9 dmax this week .
I currently drive the 2.5lt dmax on a 63 plate and you would never ever think the new dmax was just a 1.9ltr engine pulling the 3.5t trailer .
The auto is the one to go for in my opinion , it's a pleasure to drive and only 2mpg worse than the manual .
Needless to say, I have ordered one !

Im looking for a new pick up too now. I'm tempted to make use of the toyota scrappage on my current landcruiser, I can get £4000 scrappage, not sure if its the extra hassle and time to get not much more?! However, I'm not sure about the toyota 2.4 engine for towing,? I pull a sheep trailer weekly. I quite like the sound of the wildtrack 3.2 engine?

I've had a toyota hilux 3 Ltr which was a good truck , I'm not convinced by the new smaller breed of engines manufacturers are offering

what are the new shape 16 reg onwards ford ranger 3.2 auto wildtrak like ? Reliability and general day to day running ?

They seem to have jumped leaps and bounds in spec and refinement and they still use the 3.2 auto which is the tempter for me as I do tow a 2 tonne capacity 10 foot twin axle trailer I know all the rest will do it aswell but I prefer a bigger engine

if ford offered there uk ranger with there 3.6 / 4.4 TDV8 diesel they use in America I'd have that

I wish I'd never sold my old 3ltr auto Hi-Lux, I bought the new model 2.4 manual and can honestly say never again. Gutsy is an understatement. I've had it back to the garage 3 times. The 1st 6,000 miles were shocking probably 24-26 mpg. Gear selector had to be changed out, front window changed out due to a small stone putting a crack over half the window, no easy feat getting it changed out as Toyota had put a freeze on manufacturing of the windows according to insurance company. Ford Ranger 3.2 auto for me next, just not yet as loosing too much money on changing the hi-lux after 1 year.

If 0% finance is available, that might be a better bet than the scrappage scheme, even if you can pay cash.
