New trees and dead deer.

I see in the Times today that our purveyors of finest punk beer (sic) have finally acknowledged that they haven't a clue about re-wilding and have flogged off their country estate at Kinrara to our latest multi estate owners Oxygen Conservation.
Anyone with shares in Brew Dog might be getting a bit twitchy at the moment!

Bits of land that I stalk over have good levels of new planting with trees growing well and now 10 foot plus yet there are many deer about.

Admittedly most of trees are planted in tubes, and there is also plenty of mature woodland as well as grass etc about.

Yes tubes may be expensive, but compared to the cost of full height deer fencing and cost of contractors to do the shooting, I suspect tubes are more cost effective. They also provide a microclimate protection and prevent grass and other weeds completely choking off the young trees, and will protect the trees against damage from hares and voles.
