North West Stalkers' eve, Thurs 16th June, 6pm

Plenty to wet our appetites there on bidding. Shame dallom couldn't offer something.

I assume you mean Dallam Tower estate? If so we did not approach them but; as you will see from the difference between last year's lots and this we are trying not to ask the same people (to donate) year on year so we might well ask Dallam if they can kindly do so in the future!

It's great to see local stalkers supporting this event. I no well I think Dallam Tower keep the stalking in house as I've tried to get a stalk in there but to no avail.

Looking forward to the event.

Hi Molly
It looks a bonny head to me so please do bring it along, I guess it will score OK for length etc but it might lack a little weight to make a medal but you never know. As long as you are a BASC member there is no charge for measuring if it doesn't make a medal anyway! I took 2 roe and a sika last year and none made Bronze, one was just a couple of points off.
All the best
Nick J

Malmo Guns have confirmed they are offering discounts on the night including 20% off selected clothing, 10% off optics, rifle ammo, cleaning equipment and bullet heads.

Due to high numbers gates will open earlier and please arrive by 6pm prompt as we need to start at 6.15pm. We have had a really terrific response from the stalking community for attendance and also auction lots (2 more stalking lots added today) and raffle prizes so a big thank you to you all from DI/BASC and BDS.

As mentioned it is £8 on the gate (if you have the right money ready that would be great) this includes a free venison burger and £5 in an envelope for the raffle (write your name on the envelope) - forecast looks like sunshine and showers but we do have marquees this year to shelter under!

We look forward to seeing everyone on the evening.
Thanks

Well a truly excellent evening, very well attended, despite biblical weather before the event started.

Very good turn out of exhibitors, BDS, BASC, DI, FC, Honeywell Meats, Police Wildlife Team and ABF - who brought with them some interesting kit including a few 338's to look at. The team at Malmo were on hand and as willing and able to assist despite it being a very long day.

Very interesting displays from Honeywell, UK Deer Dogs Tracking and Simon Roch about monometal projectiles, the way forward in my experience..

I think the total attendees were circa 225, plus at least 40 support staff, which I think is the largest dedicated Deer Stalking Event held in the country - behind the Kelso Deer Fair

On behalf of the organisers, I hope the rest who attended had an equally good time.

Yes, very much enjoyed it, put several names to faces, had a brief chat to UKSHA, great organising and a credit to all to those who organised it.

To add to Redmist's round up below is the press release for the event and I'd like to thank everyone from The Stalking Directory who attended & donated lots. Thank you also to Admin for allowing us the use of this excellent forum to promote the event.

Around 300 deerstalking enthusiasts gathered at Malmo Guns in Lancashire last night for the Deerstalkers’ Best Practice charity evening organised by BDS, DI, BASC and our hosts Malmo Guns.
This year nearly £5,000 was raised for ABF The Soldiers’ Charity and NW Air Ambulance.
There was talks on tracking with dogs by the UKSHA, venison butchery by Honeywell Meats and bullets by Simon Roche – all very well received.
All of the organising associations had stands and the BASC one was augmented by the very popular ST-2 simulator on its ‘running boar’ mode and Lewis Thornley was kept very busy measuring trophies throughout the evening.
Trade attending include Swarvoski, Tikka, Sako, Mauser, Sauer & Harkila. Daziels butchers’ supplies had on their stand a wide range of knives and larder equipment. SMH attended with their enviable mobile chiller trailer and the fieldsports jeweller Rachel Elizabeth Wood was also there on the evening.
The local Forestry Commission Wildlife Rangers present had fresh grallochs etc on display to give the most accurate carcase inspection demonstrations. Other stands included those from Charles Campbell Tailors, outfitters Yorkshire Deer Management and Huntershill Safaris. ABF brought along a Sniper Team from our local regiment which attracted much interest. Lancashire Police were on hand with their Wildlife team and a Firearms Enquiry Officer.
One of the highlights of the evening included an auction of some superb lots including stalking outings donated by the likes of Cervus UK, Levens Hall Estate, Quercus Deer Services & Euston Estate. The raffle was well supported and the great prizes included those donated by Meindl, Deerhunter, Seeland & Hoggs of Fife.
Honeywell Meats kindly donated their time again and fed everyone on superb venison burgers from the BBQ.
