NV dilemma

Looking to buy NV. Need to decide between Nite site Wolf / Eagle or the Pard NV007

Any suggestions? ( or others I need to consider )
Need a ad on NV to use with existing scope

Greetings

David

I personally would avoid anything that results in your face being lit up. So for an add on, that leaves some kind of near eye display which the Pard is.

It will help if you can answer the following questions.

How far do you want to shoot and at what?
What is your existing scope that you want strap an add on to?

Well I would like to ad it to a Vixen 6x 24

How far ? Don’t know the possibilities. Mainly fox and rabbits , if possible wild boars

So I guess between 50 and 150 m ?

Regarding face being lit up. Well, we used to shine bright lights at foxes and they still came in. I also shoot out of a fox box using a 6 inch monitor for my spotter and the foxes don't seem bothered.
However.
If you are intending to sling it over your shoulder then a screen on top is not ideal. They are fine shooting from a highseat or stationary position.
I move around the fields a lot so sling the rifle a lot. So I would go near eye in that situation.

Vixen are Japanese made I think. I had one a long time ago (it was quite a nice scope by all accounts) I have no idea how they will operate with an Add on but I would guess they would be ok as many Jap scopes are but there is no guarantee.

I would try and find someone close to you with any sort of digi NV add on and see if it is compatible with your scope. Otherwise, you run the risk of having to get a suitable scope to use with it should it not operate well enough for your liking.

Assuming all is well, I would go with the Pard rather than having a TV atop your rifle. For the yardages you are talking about, you might not even need additional IR.

The PARD wins every time.
I know some people still use and like NiteSite kit, but the reality is that it's overpriced and totally outdated
Bear in mind that your scope is definitely not optimal for NV work.

These are the scopes I’m using for the moment ( although I want to replace the one on the .22 or put another on the rs14 and use the vixen for the .22)

Anyone tried a Pard with a Swarovski ? I know it's a long shot, but I have a Z4i I'd like to use, and I'm really not inclined to buy another scope.
I have an older swarovski and its not great as it doesn't have parallax, also still getting my head around the pard settings LOL

pard nv008 or the nv007 ,very good ive had the Drone ,PVS 14 and out to 250y ,the pard are great , cost wise for £400 ,can used on different rifles with out to much trouble .

I can see the pard is making a very good impression on the majority of people but im sending mine back i received my pard just before xmas i already have a daveG add- on ,tried the pard on the rifle , good picture but seeing as my scope is set quite far back i found i have little or no cheek weld , now i could move the scope forward but then its no good for day shooting without moving it and having to re- zero every time , or i could get a stock extender or i could get a picatinny rail and QD mounts if i want to spend another £300 , but then i may as well go dedicated but none of those take away the fact that the image through daveGs add on trumps the pard by a hell of a long way with the e700 camera in it

The pard is a cracking little unit but it could be a great unit with a better camera , i know there are people on NV forums looking at finding a bettter camera and are already changing the 16mm lens for a 12mm

I think the pard will become a great unit through DIYs changing this and that much the same as the photon got doublers fitted and then the xtreme version

Im not knocking the pard in any way ,shape or form it is a good unit that is just waiting to become a great unit which will happen in time and to all those that have them enjoy , this is just my opinion and until the pard comes to its full potential i will stick with mr Gs great little add - on

The PARD uses a full HD camera with 1920x1080 pixels while the E700 camera in Daves add-on is a non HD camera with 976x582 pixels
This means that the pixels in the PARD camera are smaller and therefore less sensitive than in the E700
So, if you don't have a lot of IR, the E700 may well be giving you a usable image while the PARD is struggling and producing an image with a lot of lag.
If you do have enough IR, then the image from the PARD is much sharper and higher resolution than the E700.
What is really helping the PARD to become as good as it is, are the new generation of laser illuminators such as the Solaris SRX and DFK

The camera in the PARD is completely integrated onto a circuit board with the near eye display driver and other electronics, so changing the camera is not going to happen.

With the standard 16mm lens and used as an add-on, the field of view of the camera allows the user to see all of the scopes ocular plus little black areas in the 4 corners of the display.
If you change the lens to 12mm, all that will happen is the field of view will become wider meaning that the space occupied by the ocular in the display will become smaller and the black corners will get significantly larger.
In other words there is absolutely no benefit to be gained by changing from a 16mm lens to a 12mm lens.
Going from a 16mm lens to a 25mm lens would have the benefit of reducing the field of view so that the black corners are eliminated and the reticle is somewhat magnified.
Is it possible that the people who are changing lenses are actually changing them from 16 to 25mm?
I'm an active member of the biggest NV forum (Nightvisionforumuk) where many members have the PARD add-on and no-one has mentioned changing lenses

Cheers

Bruce
