Off season endeavours

I feel your pain, that’s why I leant to sail, greases the wheel of love for when I want to go away to the continent fishing
Yeah, I’m working on selling the whole idea of us going away for a weekend and I’ll do a guided stalk in a morning and evening somewhere in the UK and she gets a spa treatment or two nearby.

Woodpigeon shooting, rabbits, foxes, building release pens etc, supervising my boys’ fishing endeavours. Camping, swimming, lots of paddle boarding, inspecting the grass.

Inspecting the grass is particular favourite. It involves cutting the grass, rabbits, dogs and chickens out, having an early barbecue, charcoal starts just after 1100hrs, a long drawn out feast me cooking multiple courses chef’s table style with 5-12 people, a few beers, then about 1500hrs I go and inspect the grass… code for lying down in the sun and gently nodding off whilst listening to the birds.
A fine day to inspect the grass. My sister bought me some ‘instagram’ steaks for my birthday and made some chimichuri to accompany them. Really good, however caused controversy with the boys when I cooked the steaks well done to get the fat to melt and crisp. They like their steaks ‘blue,’ but have learnt a valuable lesson today… it is the cut chooses how it is cooked, not you!

Yes, getting after the trout! Wrong forum I know but what's the mayfly reports from around the country? We're seeing some but mostly still on emergers yet, another week to go in the South East I think.

No numbers here in the West of Ireland, weather has been cold and has got colder/stormy. Think it’ll be another week before any decent hatches.
