Oily rag or cloth

Mine eventually fell apart, it was originally a Terry's nappy (Washed of course) taken for my use in the 70s and only lasted about 40 years. Silicon Cloth has taken over as a wipe over protection.

BC.

I'm only into about 5 years of development of my current oily rag but it's coming along nicely. Stored hanging over the gun muzzles in the cabinet.

I use a yellow duster that is saturated with a mix of 3 in 1, rangoon and 303 oil. I have had it fir as long as I can remember.

I just had to get this old rag out after reading the posts, i just wish i could post the smell that goes with it.
It must me nearly 40 years old and still going strong (like the smell) I think it was a free cloth with Airgun World, its got just about every make of oil on you could imagine. I have another cloth for best thats only used on shotguns, but thats only about 30 years old.

I have a Tattershall cotton shirt, about 10 years old, that is getting darker more and more each year.
It is perfect.
My wife wants to wash it,she is naive of man stuff.

I have two. One is my father's old one which must be a good 50 year old and I'm just breaking a new one in; that's only about 20 years old. Both are bits of chamois leather - no idea why, just what we've always used and seems to last...
