Optics Lens Cleaning Kit Recommendations

Swaro kit includes what I believe to be a very soft retractable makeup buffing brush.

Ideal as it does not exert any real pressure on the lens and picks up small foreign bodies like tiny bits of heather seed easily without rubbing them against the lens.

Cotton buds also useful.

Ziess wipes also good (if you buy enough stuff from @R. Macleod & Son you occasionally get a smaller pack on the house ;))

If they get really dirty with mud etc. I run each lens under a cold tap, at an angle with suitable drop off, and assist the cleaning process with a very fine of bristle artist’s paint brush. If they have also become rather greasy I may add a tiny amount of washing up liquid which is only on there for a moment.

The main thing is to ensure you remove any fine grit before you start rubbing with any cloth no matter how soft.

This for me..... has worked well for years on my plastic lensed glasses with a dab of hand soap rather than washing up liquid which has salt in it. The lenses on those show no sign of scratches or deterioration.... I squeeze dry them with a towel.

Optical lense get dabbed dry with the end of a rolled up piece of loo or kitchen roll, never rubbed and they still look as new. That goes for thermal, Bino and scope lenses.

cheers

Tiendo a pedir prestado el kit de limpieza de lentes de la cámara de mi esposa, un paño de cepillo, etc.

Exactamente, ¡funcionan perfectamente!

Atentamente

I got the swaro kit years ago. Good brush to remove dust and larger bits, decent lenses cloth and cleaning fluid. Any lenses cloth from your local opticians or camera.shop are fine.
