Out last night.

I'd try and get that scope away from the barrel a bit - you want to be careful with interference with them kinda tolerances
LOL..I know it looks a tad high. Tried to keep the mounts the same for the various mounts so have Tier One monomounts. The issue with the Alpex is it needed to be a high mount so there is enough room to fly a plane under it. However on a recent survey all of the animals....well they were dead ...so couldnt ask them if it made a difference

I prefer taller mounting than the low mounting of optics. Never understood the fascination with low mounts.

£220.00, very well made actually, surprising really, reckon the split links are getting their act together re QC and better manufacturing ... think it could be a yank design built / copied in China? LF Bros?

Seem to remember something about similar heaters.

Sure it’s there.

Out for a walk this evening and came across a big dog fox that has eluded me previously, not tonight though. Saw him walking across a field of cattle and figured he would turn up towards the road, crossing the field I was in, so headed across the field to cut him off. Very dark and breezy so movement could be quite brisk. Sure enough he appears at about 130 yards, quick lip squeak and down he went. #23IMG_2139.webp

Frustrating night tonight. Already decided i was gonna stand & use foxpro (done almost 97,000 steps this week so far) as couldn't be arsed hiking about. Playing mix of dog fox territory & dog fox mating with lots of pause. Only road for miles around to my back. Scanning with thermal, after a while spotting obvious fox heat, yep behind me towards road! Wait & watch when it's joined by a second fox following close behind. Slowly but steady first fox is moving more & more into a safe shot zone, but then fox #1 decides to go other side of hedge. But still heading towards caller. Fox # 2 decides to stop following & heads back way it came. #1 carries on behind hedge & i get scope ready as im certain where it's heading to slip through into my field about 90yd from me. But then it stopped. Could see it just through hedge.....then gone 🥷. No further sign.

So I know I've a pair knocking about despite taking old vixen last week. Be boring if it was easy.

When I was a kid there used to be a saying, ‘Are you out of collar?’
Harking back to horses working and meant, did you not have a job.
Ken.

Another lovely saying about horses from the past.

Never look a gift horse in the mouth... meaning if you are down on your luck and have no horse to work the land, and a kind neighbour kindly offers you a horse to use, don't be so ungrateful that you look at its teeth to age the horse, accept the offer graciously.

You probably know that one already, Ken.
