Out last night.

Just setting off to think some rabbits out when a message arrived from a smallholder chum. His wife had just chased a fox off, it was trying to get into one of the chicken runs. Swapped the rimfire for my 204, and headed over. A chilly wait for nearly two hours, patience young grasshopper!
Fox appeared atop a boundary berm, then whipped across into a big hedge of a nearby house. Another 15 mins and out he popped, finally offering a shot. Buggered if I could find him though, strike sounded solid and he collapsed, did do a couple of flips so possibly made it into brambles. Smallholder having a look in daylight for the body.
Bright moonlight and clear sky.

just got my femural nail and rod today as the screw was working loose and causing a bit of discomfort 🤣.
so the question is,will I be out foxing tomorrow night?

yes we did Go out on Friday on the lambing fields, but saw nothing at all.
it turned out I was ok to shoot as the painkillers only said don't drive or operate machinery, nothing about firearms 🤔.
did a quick dressing change today on the lower cut.IMG_20260330_141108.webp

Mine was in Summer , shot a fox and left it by track . When I returned about an hour later its shoulder had been eaten.

Only foxes on this ground , no badgers or big cats 😂
I shot foxes for a big house with large grounds who had ornate wild foul ,I used to dump the carcasses in the long reeds along the edge of a very boggy part , the owner told me he was out for a walk in a summer day to see what wild life was about and there was a fox circling round about him, when I asked him where you guessed it in the reeds.

Crow shot in one of the fields as i was feeding tonight and then got set up and took a vixen by our big pond

Also saw a stoat - (or weasel) chase and catch a mouse - hard to tell in thermal

Just had the call I was hoping not to receive, two separate lambs killed last night, wind is way over any shooting speeds for the .222 & forecast to reach towards 90 through tonight / tomorrow, So going to break out the red lamp & the 6.5 PRC with 143 grain & go up tomorrow T time, two lambs should be enough to carry the killer/s through till tomorrow.🤞😡

#6 I think :-|..
Poultry & arable farmer near me asked if I'd come tonight. He's known he has had a litter for a couple of weeks.
It's almost an annual call for me. He has some nice high & dry land, which his poultry units sit on. This patch has a nice smattering of rabbits, so he usually has a foxy family in the spring.
Well, he noticed some quantity of white chicken feathers outside the holes, so they had to go. I shot the Vixen, but there was no sign of the dog. The farmer is going to sort the residue out tomorrow morning. Shame, but it needs doing.
