Well they didn't for meIf they don't come to a squeal tonight they never will do !
Bugger bugger bugger,, never a good way to startTo make matters worse, I missed one out of the window at home before I left

Indeed. My head's not been in it lately. Couple of poorer shots on deer and 2 foxes missed (out of about the last 12). took myself off down the bottom field this morning with a target and all my rifles to make sure zero is bang on for all of them. Few tweaks required (a click here and there) but nothing that would account for a miss (as expected!) but at least I can remove that niggling seed of doubt!!Bugger bugger bugger,, never a good way to start![]()

I assume you have been visited by the nomadsMine too, and rather suspiciously all of the badgers have also disappeared.
I wonderwhowhat could be responsible.
I've come across them a number of times in the last year, last encounter they didn't see me approaching from their side as they appeared to be busy looking through either a thermal or NV.I assume you have been visited by the nomads![]()

What a lovely looking fella he is. Nice rifle.Just getting in, thought i had better go tonight as the weather is supposed to be terrible for the weekend. Arrived at my usual spot, 2 foxes out on the big field with no back stop (;;;k) !! . Tried calling not interested, I presume they were dog and vixen, so tried a couple of other sounds still not interested, so thought I’d better have a scan around and here he comes, a different fox from my left . He stopped at 80m and the shot was good, quite a large dog and the other two are probably still there.View attachment 346863

Back out last night after work, truck has gone to garage for a shot bearing on the front axle (£££ its an axle off job - eeekk!!!) so I am rattling about in a hideous tiny little courtesy car. Out on the ground by not long after 7.30pm. Hands are freezing for the first half hour, but ok after that. See a small looking fox slip in and out of the far corner of field I am in, then nothing. I give the odd series of peeps on the caller, nothing much responds. A bit of tramping about to return circulation to the feet, and an hour slides by with nothing showing.View attachment 346777
Call from a farmer friend early this week, fox had taken one of his geese. Culprit was spotted during the daytime 'biggest dog fox, not seen one so big' hhmmm, aren't they always?
Popped out that night and within the hour stalked in and floored this well sized vixen. Farmer asks 'is that the one?' not wanting to disappoint, the best I could say was probably, but can never be sure.
Call from him again yesterday 'found most of a pheasant and fresh poo, not yet frozen in the little sheep field' the goose thief lives!!!
Popped back there last night around 10pm, a light breeze was dropping the temp well down, and soon lost the feeling in my poor fingers. A few peeps on the caller and the goose thief trotted in close, but the wrong side of a thick hedge. Got a couple of glimpses of him/her but no shot on. Sacked it after an hour, as an early start this morning.
Back at it tonight after work.

Turns out it was another well fed dog - huge tick behind its ear though.Back in the game! Very twitchy one disappearing at the slightest movement for the last couple of nights…. It appeared tonight but wasn’t hanging around - 160yds off the bedroom windowsill with the laundry basket for a rear rest![]()
