Guys

A shooting buddy is looking to get 2 of either one of the above with wi fi RF etc etc he might need

I’m a bit of a plain Jane for NV and Thermal so I'm not the best one to ask

Any recommendations or likes of one or the other he should be looking for and any preference he likes scope n type Nv one is fo 22 rimmy the other 222
Any likes or dislikes I could pass onto him before he lobs the dollars out and or is it worth buying secondhand ??

Also what mounts med or high for each one ?

Thanks phil

Depends if he prefers traditional scopes or can get along with the limited eye relief of the smaller NV units.

Pard DS and Pulsar both have more eye relief, Pulsar (and Alpex and the Infiray) are heavy lumps but their first and last light colour images are very good (Pulsar best of the 3) and all better than the Pard. Pard is lighter and for true NV use is good. Internal IR better in the mk 1 than the 2. The LRF mode and ballistic calculator work well and easy to set up.

The Zulus not as good at first and last light but not far off - and better than the Pard. A bit more complicated to set up in terms of BC with the inbuilt LRF than the Pard too. Probably the best all rounder.....

Best he thinks really about the predominant use really.

I've currently got a DS a Zulus and an Alpex. DS on my 22LR, Zulus on my .25 FAC air and the Alpex on my .222. All serve a purpose.

If I had to only have one, probably the Zulus.

The newer Pard Night Stalker DS35 from Amazon direct from Pard with the laser for our and out night work. Light weight and a base mag of 5.6 or even 8 for a less pixelated image at those higher magnifications for fox. I much prefer a higher mag, it is just what I’m used to in a day scope. The night stalker is HD in daylight mode which is the difference. All models use the same objective lens so don’t get confused when it says the 100mm model. That’s just the 8x base mag model. The Pard is significantly lighter than the C50 which will also need a separate illuminator for at night. Don’t let the odd looking rangefinder and illuminator on the pard put you off. It looks better than an additional illuminator imho.

Somone has the new Nightstalker on AGF and he says he cant see much of an improvement on the original DS and interestingly its not as good in day or NV mode in a side by side comaprison with the Zulus.

Yep I did ask that - he prefers the 30mm scope type and he likes a scope to lay along the barrel if he can ??
I”ve no idea what the scopes sit on med or high to get it as low as possible

Rabbits and foxes - he has been using my t ceptor on the 222 and he likes it all but the price hence his thoughts on the two I would go for a low mag on the rimmy but he’s the to shoot I’ve got 007 and t ceptor and love em both work

C50 hands down, if someone can show me a better after dark image vs what the C50 gives paired with correct IR, I'll buy it .
Along side the Alpex it is similar but not better and knocks spots off the ATN etc

The Hik Alpex ballistic is very good - I own a C50 and whether it's my eyes or I'm use to it I find the C50 as good if not slightly better than the Alpex - I read on some forums from the ' experts ' that the Alpex was twice as good as the C50 but not in my eyes or from a good mate that owns both but if the ballistic thing was a must I'd go with the Alpex

I'm the same as you Night owl I don't care what I own or bought but if I see something better I'll own it - I have 2 x Armasight Drone Pro scopes that have the best night time picture but nowhere near as versatile as the C50 ie twilight- battery system etc and to be fair I looked through the new ATN 5k NV scope this week but only in the day and the colour daytime picture was excellent but obviously I need to look at night before making any comparables

Yes , I base all what I use soley on the picture quality, not ballistic or range finder add ons
All I want is the best possible image especially at night and last light and currently the C50 wins with everything I have tried and owned, plus the quality of the unit itself is very good

An interesting comparison would be them all at say 200 yards on 10x mag. I'll bet they all will do the job just fine. Personally if it's a traditional style scope he wants Aplex 4k and if he doesn't mind a device that sits further back on a mount the Zulus is hard to beat.

Well I'd been wondering the same I currently have a C50 and finally got comparing it against a 4k in the last few days, the 4k is good no doubt but not better than the C50 maybe in bright daylight it has an edge but in hunting situations very early dawn and dusk low light the C50 is fantastic and yes I actually prefer it better functions rets and build quality IMHO.
