Pard DS35 lrf

I purchased the new Pard DS35lrf last month. What a fantastic piece of kit.
BUT. I was went out to shoot some squirrels. Went open the lens cap. Didn't apply and force and it came away. Put it back on but now it comes off all the time so I have to leave it off. I was told you should squeeze the sides when openning. Doesnt say anything like that in the instructions. Just a warning for anyone out there who has one. Apparently Pard are going to supply me with a modified cap.

What are you supposed to squeeze?

There is plenty left out of the manual.

The laser from the rangefinder on mine lands in the middle of the upper L/H quadrant of the reticle, where it can be seen flickering (in IR mode) close to the ranging reticle (box). It keeps scanning, changing the distance shown, until I click again to confirm the range to target. I.e., it's working properly. Sorry to hear yours didn't.

The shop said bring it in it probably a setting issue. 10 minutes and they were wrapping it up to send back lets hope it gets exchanged

There are numerous positive reviews on the DS35. As with anything new that’s launched there are going to be teething errors. People who have an issue are more likely to mention it than people who find it works brilliantly.

There are maybe 2-3% (if that) of DS35’s sold that have an issue, out of what must be hundreds so far. Not bad going!

I have tried mine on FAC air . 233 /6.5/.308 and every time it’s perform faultlessly with each profile set
, there’s no issues with the scope and it’s performance at all . It’s all about the data you input , you put shite in your just lining yourself up for a headache .

Every piece of data I used was gathered from my LabRadar from MV to BC and it’s been amazingly accurate ,

It’s no good getting your data from the back of the box of your brand of bullets or some figures from a website


The range finder splash thanks to Russ and Bruce is an absolute doddle to move and line up , in fact I now use the function to double check every time I’ve been out and it’s never need to be moved .


I have nothing negative to really say about it , nothing that comes to mind anyways .

As I remember, the photons were not without issues.
In fact I had to come up with a fix that allowed the complete camera/lens assembly to be moved relative to the tube body that allowed the scope to be zeroed so that the reticle was somewhere near the centre of the screen.
The fix was needed because they were not correctly aligned at the factory where they were made
PARD are far from perfect, but they keep coming up with innovative, competitively priced kit with features the market has been asking for.
Given that several hundred DS35s have been sold in a short time indicates that people want what the scope has to offer, and the majority of reviews have been very positive.
Yes, there are teething problems - but that's nothing unusual - nobody ever produces a perfect product at the first time of asking.

yep agree 100%
every time I think i get one of those - negative feedback comes online again and puts me on the back heel to chuck some hard earned at a unit or two

I’m not that handy on updating equipment, Wi-Fi streaming whatever that is, etc etc right now I’m looking to get a couple of reliable no frills night vision not thermal for my new Hornet and WMR

what would you recommend to get, I don't need range finder, PIP anything fancy just a reliable as possible unit that does the job from 20 yds out to 120 yds max
i keep coming back to pulsar just because I’ve have used them over the years

The Pulsar C50 no wifi would seem to best fit your needs
The features you don't need or like can usually be switched off or simply not used - but you can't buy a modern/day/night scope without them
Every scope ever made gets some level of negative feedback because it's impossible to please everyone and different people have different ideas about what they want/like from a scope.
If you see one or two complaint about a product or some specific feature of a product, then I'd tend ignore it.
If you see the same complaint from loads of people and it's something that would bother you, then probably stay away from that scope.
Also, buy new from a reputable dealer and you have 14 days to return it for any reason and get your money back.
If you keep it for more than 14 days and it subsequently becomes faulty within the warranty period (usually 2 or 3 years) then the scope will be repaired, or more likely, replaced

The Pard DS35 is available without the rangefinder. I would say that meets your needs. It’s the lightest and has the best inbuilt IR so you don’t have to spend more. It’s also the lightest.

The non wifi C50 can’t be updated without being returned. As such has its own issue.

Even cars launch issues and issues years later. My BMW has just had a recall notice. It’s nearly 10 years old. What about the issues with the Sako S20 bolt stop, that’s not even been acknowledged by Sako.

Nothing is infallible. The Pard genuinely is the best bang for your buck on the market at the moment. As was the photon however many years ago. Which is what I have only just upgraded from. I don’t spend my money on new from a shop kit lightly. I am very impressed with the Pard DS35 and Blackwood outdoors as a retailer who I bought from. Send them a private message and have a chat.

Hey Overlay, bang for your buck has to simply be a Wraith HD, one for both rifles for less than a single DS/C50/Alpex (just about with the reach back mounts).
The newer crop of units have better features, but wont see you having better results in the field for what you want.

I'm on my 3rd ds35 now. First one had an issue with the laser splash, it was low and on the right hand side. On 11.2 x zoom most of the splash was not visible. The 2nd unit the splash was better but I couldn't move the ir in and out unless I pulled with both hands. The 3rd one has the same issue but its slightly better not great but I'm going to live with it. Haven't even mounted it yet let's hope everything else functions the way it should.

Hmm, jury is out!

Mounted mine today and struggling to get a sharp picture. Zeroing in daylight at 90yards, could hardly make out the circular lines around the target and bull was just a blur (6 circular targets printed on a4). No hope of making out bullet holes (which made zeroing kinda guess work!).

Same tonight with IR. Compared it to my 008s at identical range and target and 008 is much sharper.

Think it’s going back.

Oh and the lrf splash sits right behind the PIP window on 11x mag so you can’t use lrf and PIP.
