Pard DS35 lrf

Just been out and had another play this morning and image much better - couple of things I found that manual doesn't cover:

- Turned the exposure down as suggested elsewhere - helped a lot with contrast and image clarity.
- Focussed as well as I could with the main focus ring then adjusted the diopter focus - this is the opposite way around to the manual and I'd set the diopter ring so the text in the image was clear (as per manual). Managed to get a much clearer image doing it this way around and text is still clear.

Better picture overall than the Pard 008 now - phew!

There's a simple rule that applies to all scopes, whether glass or digital
ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS focus the feckin dioptre FIRST so that the reticle is in focus
The manual lists setting the dioptre focus before setting the objective focus and that is the correct way to do it.
Doing it the other way round gets exactly the result you first experienced
The EV value should be at 0.0 for almost all situations except strong sunlight when it can be reduced to make the lines on a target a bit clearer

Cheers

That's what I was saying - I did dioptre first as you should and got crap results. It feels like the dioptre has such a wide range of "being in focus" that it was very easy to get a sharp reticle (I can probably give it a full turn either way and still looks sharp) but it was having a huge impact on image sharpness. I know it's all arse about face but it worked for some strange reason.

Sorry, but that's not how I read your post which says "Focussed as well as I could with the main focus ring then adjusted the diopter focus"

Apologies - yes, this was around was second time of setting it up. To be read in conjunction with first part of post:

Well, someone over on the UKNV forum claims (and I have no reason not to believe him) to have used a DS35 with it's onboard IR and using its ballistic calculator to shoot a rabbit at 392 yards.
There can't be much wrong with a scope that can do that.
FYI the bullet used was a 6.5cal 95g VMax with a BC of 0.365 and an MV of 3200fps

I am within this 1%. And its not true I cant be pleased. I am quite happy with the scope but the lense cap came off and wouldn't stay back on. A few people have had this problem but its not been on here. Pard obviously know about this problem as they are sending out modified replacement lense caps to dealers (I have been told this by Pard today).

Had mine for 10 days and it’s going back, doesn’t hold zero, LRF is rubbish, picture quality is poor at night.

Waited ages to get mine sorted. Took it to the shooting show to Solware Shooting Supplies who I bought it from. They gave me a new one. Decided to put it on my rifle today. When openning the lens cover it fell off. Exactly the same problem. F---ing nightmare.

think i will give it a miss on pulling the plug on one of these until all the problems are sorted ,alpex looks good though
