Pat “The Warrener” Carey passed Away

R I P Pat.
He wasn't everyone's cup of tea, but back in the day he was one of the only 'countrymen' to release vhs videos which I for one learned a hell of a lot from.
Wish I had a fraction of his fieldcraft and I've been at it for over 40 years now.

RIP Pat

Used to buy every video back in the day and watched them relentlessly.

Nobody could call foxes like him , a master in his trade.

I, like so many others, owe a huge debt to Pat Carey for it was him and him alone who inspired my love of all things foxes. Pat’s videos were groundbreaking (see wot I did there) in so many ways and his calling skills were legendary. I still have all his old VHS tapes and regularly watch them again - who could ever forget his hosting of a bunch of gamekeepers and showing them his calling prowess - in front of all of them a fox ran in and went for his leg - he literally had to kick it away!
RIP fella and thank you…

Did he not design a knife for feild work? Sure I saw something about this in the Shooting Times back in the day.

What he did design was his own interpretation on the Cluelight lamp.
Had a tilt switch and flip up/down red filter incorporated.
I met him at the Midland game where he had a stand selling his goods.
I asked him if I could field trial his lamp design.
Without question he gave me a lamp and told me to return it to him when I was done.
Which I did.
It never took off his design which almost coinsided with the Australian make Lightforce entering the hunting market.
Decent chap I thought..

You're not thinking about Lofty Wiseman?
I remember seeing a television programme where Lofty was proclaiming that there's absolutely no need for an expensive Rambo style survival knife, that what he uses was a homemade knife made from an old hacksaw blade.
Some time later I saw Lofty in the shop at Minsterly ranges trying to interest them in selling a "Rambo" style survival knife that he had designed. :)

Lofty designed a survival tool based on a Parang,it sold well but I doubt he made a fortune. RIP him as well 🥹
