A quick post to say how well Police Scotland (north east and Inverness) did on my recent variation - 6 changes, some of which were a little odd due to situations with my son looking to acquire his cert. I also forgot to sign the variation form….🤦🏻‍♂️ and still, from submission to doormat in 9 days….great service. 👍🏻

Yeah, I was a nightmare when I renewed. I had moved house and was in temporary accommodation. Guns all over the place, wanted a variation as well and just a couple of weeks before I moved into the new house. All sorted out with no hassle.

Nice for some... I was more like 3/4 months waiting for my S1 shotgun variation to come back in Edinburgh...

Didn't help that the variation apparently didn't get to the FEO until a month after I submitted it, and then it took him just over a month to get in touch.

While the single force hasn't been all good, when it comes to firearms licensing, it's been great. Aside from standardisation and a new It system called Shogun - which seems to run smoothly unlike the English equivalent - they can ship applications around areas to speed up processing, depending on caseload OK different teams. The only downside in Highland is that Northern used to give out pretty large ammo hold amounts, whereas PS are a good bit tighter.

If you can be bothered you can get same day service at french street, well more like next day if you have the time available during 9am-3pm and go and see them.

Glasgow have been really good.
Actually baffles me how a city based station is more swept up with FACs etc than say a more traditionally country sports oriented place like Inverness or Argyll and Bute.
Saying that , my FEO told me that Renfrewshire was awash with cert holders.

Just got my renewals through the post last week.
Old certs are up on 9th June.

The lassie FEO started contacting me in March.
Held off as I took unwell in Apirl.
Then got back in contact at the start of May.
Doc’s letter took three days (£50)
Visit on the 13th asked for another .22rf moddy and an increase in .222 allowance.
New certs arrived 22nd with requested additions and no questions.

Great service as far as I’m concerned.

Only wee gripe is the AWL form.
It looks like it was set up by a primary school pupil with spacing/boxes all to pot.
