PCP compressor recommendations

I’m thinking to invest in a compressor.
Not wanting to spend too much max £200.
Any recommendations or are the cheaper ones just not worth it?
Thanks

Damp/moist air is not what you want, "yes" these little pumps will have a filter
A surface cylinder will have a 5 year test and if filled by a dive shop with (breathing air) is should filtered and dry.
Back in the day I tested/serviced dive cylinders/regulator's so have seen the results of a wet/oily pumps from people having fills done and it is S hit.

Hello, Tuxing seem to be popular on the AGF, There is one on Amazon black friday deal at £136 some have bought, You can extend warranty i think so worth checking, Another make is the GX but maybe a rebadged Tuxing but it looks better to me,

Very good point regarding moisture. Is there an in-line filter to be had that may be fitted between a dive bottle outlet and the air-rifle bottle fill line hose?

Got mine off AliExpress £124 when they had a offer on, run three filter's inline works perfect filling my 500cc carbon bottle up.

As this is about filling a PCP then if the air is bad or damp people would not know, but I can only pass on what I did and when you are diving with 5 tanks to 100mts with a long deco then the air has to be spot on as you just can't come up!
Yes Beaver used to supply one for filling which people would have as their personal kit, I could well give you and example (lots more)
A dive boat I was on ( 3 day trip) in Oz, my side of the boat the tanks had come back off hire from "Harrys" dive shop and were contaminated wet/oily pump, you could smell the crap air the other side had not been hired out and were perfect. I gave up any diving as the air was so bad others had headaches. (no refund)

People trim their reload cases to the nearest 0.001" so why not have clean air! lol

As you say, its about filling a PCP. Hence my question that seeks to address moisture that may have - however introduced - found its way into a dive bottle that will be used to top-op/fill a PCP.

Is there an in-line filter to mitigate this possibility?

A PCP filled from a dive cylinder will have a DIN or A-Clamp valve so the PCP fill whip with have on one end be it a DIN (male) or A-clamp
so to filter the air coming out then the Beaver in-line filter will do that as it does it for filling. just a case of the right ends.
The simple fix is a clean tested air fill from a goods dive centre who will have no problem in offering that.
I used to pull the stacks apart and re fit them early as it is cheaper than shot blasting a heap of tanks because of a wet pump.
Hope that helps or pm me.

If I'm reading this correctly, better to get my primary bottle filled at a dive shop rather than a RFD with a compressor (of indeterminable quality and service records)?

Thanks

Yes, the air is all the same just the level of filtration at dive centres has to meet a level of quality (fit for human consumption to put it bluntly lol)
compared to a gun shop who just fills for air rifles.
Drain the receiver from a hobby workshop compressor and it will be milky with some oil, my micro bore compressor (350bar) that come from Marconi's has 1 wet stack 1 pre wet filter and 3 dry filters as it was used to fill part of Tank gun sights so it had to be dry lol

You want a Hills 310 Evo, don't listen to the nay sayers above, you can buy them with a filter that will dry the air as much as any unknown dive shop compressor as long as you look after it.

They are fast, accurate, easy to maintain and not too noisy.

I shoot a lot of slugs at high reg pressures and get through a lot of air as a result, the Hill's is a total game changer.

Not cheap but I bought a cheap one first that didn't even last a year, highly recomended.

I have to disagree Anthony, yes they will fill a PCP but in a completely different league to a breathing air compressor which will fill both a pcp or dive cylinder
Debbie who runs the dive centre up the road from yourself will have a breathing air compressor not a Evo (which is fine for a PCP) as you point out.
I refurbished 20 of her tanks back up to spec stripped cleaned inside valves serviced stamped primed and painted.
As I said my experiences are from that side of the fence.

I agree. I used to fill my diving cylinders (for diving) from shop air banks. 5 years doing this and never had rust in tanks at test time. I joined a BSAC diving club that had a well serviced compressor (which cost thousands) and filled from that maybe 10 times, next test the cylinder needed shot blasting to clear rust.

I had 2 tanks that were mine for training pool/open water a 12& a 10 (for the pool) the 12 had 40% nitrox in all the time, spotless inside.
Having tipped water out of 12ltr ally tanks in Egypt after taking the valves off then you get to wonder if people know what they are doing lol

It also matters where the compressor is taking a suction from and the humidity poor air in = poor out and frequent drier changes.

I use the hill compressor for my air rifles

I’ve had the system for 3 years

I’ve no complaints

As a barely relevant aside

I gave up diving coz of the headaches
