Just a question here in regards to permission.
do the majority on here pay* i.e ££ for perms.
or are the majority of guys on here helping out in other ways.. i.e pest control fencing.. help arou d rearing or beating etc?
I know of guys on both sides of the fence. just wondered what the majority was.

Free on both of mine. The oldest flatly refused any form of payment either monied, edible or alcoholic but I do carry out the odd small structural repair to fencing etc where I'm able. The second, newest, I have yet to broach the subject because we both had a short meeting then drove around his land, he said crack on and gave me a verbal list of what he needs taking care of. I get the impression that he will be of the same ilk as the first but I'm quizzing the farm workers to find out if he has a liking for anything special.

Free for me but try to do as many beating days as possible 🦌

As far as I'm aware he pays for the sporting rights but in turn he runs a syndicate, so Its paid.... but not really?

Small sheep farm with two sites - I shoot problem foxes at lambing (not out of choice) and share a bit of venison. Box of wine to the farmer at Xmas. Probably could do it for nothing back other than foxing but it’s worth more to me to have it so we both see it as a fair deal.

Free Muntjac, Fox, Pigeon and Corvids, but i do hand over a fair amount of Sausages and Burgers. As they supplied the Muntjac for me to shoot its only fair i return some of it.

All free in terms of permissions, so consider myself lucky, I do however take the odd paid Stalk a few times a year, just to experience new ground, new people and different species, on the permissions I do help out with vermin/fox control and provide some bottles of festive cheer at Yuletide.

Free . First permission started with 3 fields on a estate to clear rabbits from game crops done a good job and now have full estate for rabbits fox and deer also corvids. Just picked up another 3 farms for fox control from doing a good job on estate. Doing a good job usually leads to more👍
