Still lighter duties, still catching up, been messing with Kydex this last couple of days though and a version of this is what I was leaning towards yesterday for this project...

Disclaimers are, this sheath IS NOT the finished article and I don't have an actual knife, this is a rough, mocked up and 3D printed scale affair.

I am very keen to use that 'pancake' style (pancake being two halves fixed together by the eyelets), the reason for this is the eyelets themselves, they are incredibly useful for you, carry options have been mentioned and asked about, those eyelets make carry options almost limitless.

Todays modifications are...

The addition of that extra eyelet, further up the back of the handle, allows for different carry heights of the sheath when using those eyelets along the back of the knife.

That new eyelet is not yet centred correctly, MkII sheath will see that fixed.

When I say centred I am sure you know that Kydex fixings and fittings have an industry standard for hole centres, when I stick to that with the eyelets that I fit, you will be able to purchase any Kydex fitting you like online and it will fix to this sheath.

This photo shows a simple Malice Clip configured for vertical carry, I only had one to hand but one would fit on either side of the sheath.

If you wanted to carry horizontally, 'scout' carry, a simple very 90 degrees switch, again, two will fit...

Anything will fit those top five holes.

Kydex sheath looks ace. 👍

Any chance of a simple option of a lenght of say seatbelt, folded to form a belt loop and riveted inline with the top 4 holes?

Sorry for my rather rude reply, caught me at a bad time 😂😂

It is a great idea and one that is in mind, like most things though by no means simple to get right, and it would need to be right if I do it.

There is another option that I saw on Insta yonks ago, I was totally impressed, I'll not tell you what it is yet as these walls have ears 😂

Morning all, just back from a half term week away so thought I should post a quick update, first the not ideal...
  • I am still waiting on the G10 to land with me, I hear it is close though so should be soon.
  • I did struggle a little more 'post op' than anticipated, getting there now though.
Now the better stuff...
  • The leather sheaths are ordered and on with.
  • Still plugging away with the blade grinding, all is still going very well with that.
  • Alongside the grinding I thought it might be nice to start finishing a few of the blades too, give them their stonewashed lustre, the finish is difficult to get a good photo of (for me), the finish is lovely though, another bonus being it is very hard wearing. There is no downside to this finish.

  • I'll be applying some blade marks to those through this week, I'll post a photo or two.

Basically all the plates are spinning and the project is plodding along nicely, pretty soon things should all start coming together.

Cheers all.
