Scopes make a huge difference in the weights of any setup.

I’m currently running Minox ZP5 2-15 due to the features and cost in comparison to your usual German manufacturers. However on The Fix I’m tempted to change it up and go back to the proof barrel. It’s still a 6lb base to work off.

That'll be why. I always looked at the weight of the Swarovski and was amazed how light they were.

4” less barrel length helps too

My Amplus was only 700g whereas the PRS is 1kg.

That’s a third heavier above the axis of the rifle. It will flop about and feel a lot heavier. However it all depends on the style of shooting you do.

I’ve told March and Schmidt to compromise to where I am. Glass in America scopes just doesn’t pop for me and that’s what I need at dark when time is called.

As the saying goes, spend most of your money on the glass. For if you can’t see it. You sure as hell can’t shoot it.

In my early days I’ve watched deer moon me. Because as soon as I get behind the scope I can’t see the crosshairs on fitals.

I sure as hell have been tempted to change back. Then I look through my scope out of a rainy back garden.

Yes I've been there and back a few times now.

I have another Amplus on my CM and I really like them. Just wanted some extra mag to do some target work and tighten the groups up.

The PRS reminds me very much of the PMII Ultrashort I had. Nice and compact yet sturdy

My new-ish lightweight setup (in this guise anyway).

308 sako 591, Zeiss 3-12, DPT, Staffs Synthetics stock. 10lbs near enough. A lightweight compared to my 6.5 which I use for more sitting out and rangier shots.

Sako A7 Roughtech in 243, Burris Four X LR 3-12x56 scope, DPT Magnum mod.

All in about 4.7 Kg nice to shoulder though stock is nice to handle and durable, changing scope next month to a Meopta Optika 6 3-18x50 for a bit more magnification.

Puts RWS 100gr into small groups 0.25" @ 100yd, Geco 105gr at about 0.4", likes 70gr blitzkings too for foxing, for some reason
sako's own soft points dont group near as good nor do 95gr hornady sst's all about 1.3" or thereabouts in a indoor range.

my next deer stalking rifle in larger cartridge will be bit shorter more compact, a Sako 75, Tikka 695, Howa 1500 sporter would be just reet

Here’s mine
S20 with a chopped barrel from 24” down to 22&1/4”, Stalon X108, Leupold VX-5HD 3-15 x 56, Vortex flip up lens caps, Optilock picatinny base and medium rings all in loaded is 5.7kg .
Not a lightweight but not bothered as it’s a great rifle for me, achieving 1/3 MOA with S&B Blue 120gr and cloverleaf with Federal Power Shock 130gr if I do my bit so more than adequate for putting Deer on the ground .

7prc Crest carbon 4.2kg. If i add a mod to it that will be an extra 332g so it will be fairly light for the hills.
