Whichever quad you get make sure it is locked up securely, there has been a spate of thefts in my area this year, i know a farmer who had 3 stolen in one night, my mate got his stolen a few days ago from a steel container, the theiving gits got it out of the container using a burning torch.

Kawasaki KVF360 here, not mine as such as it belongs to the fishing club, I am however the only rider and key-holder.
It is now 5 years old, and a couple of months ago had the first repair, replaced the battery, and that is it except a service once a year.
Every time it is used (unless I nick it for shooting duty) it is towing either a well loaded trailer, or heavy 5 inch wood chipper on wheels, with the trailer behind that.
It has had well over a ton in the trailer, and will pull that just about anywhere, it tow starts an old diesel dumper (loaded) with ease, and make little complaint
when towing 6 full length telegraph poles across a mile or so of rough ground.
It has never put a foot wrong, got stuck or failed to move whatever it was that needed moving, and the battery only failed due to much abuse with the winch.

I've had plenty of experience with Hondas and they have all been reliable and tough, however I can also vouch for a Kawasaki KVF 650 which I regularly borrow. It's had 6 years of dogs abuse in the highlands by forestery contractors and will still do the business. My record (twice) is reds ; one on the front, two on the back and two on the tow rope.

honda without a doubt my 96 foreman 400 was used by a forestry contractor from new til i bought it 6year ago my mate worked with the guy and it was in use every day planting putting out fertiliser etc and he rolled it several times with no injury to him or the bike and im afraid ive also had the pleasure of ending up underneath it as well with no injury or damage but the best one was when i got my mate up to help me get some hinds out of a very steep gully as id only managed to drag 2 down on the saturday so he borrowed the bike of his boss(the one i own now)and we went back up 1st thing on the sunday he underestimated how steep it was at the very top and the bike went skywards with 2 hinds on it he jumped off and the bike headed back down hill doing 3 full rolls before bouncing off a knoll and landing stuck 8ft up a tree!we had to drag the 2hinds back 2miles by hand then go back up with saw and rope to get bike out of tree when we got it down emptied the petrol out of air filter and it started and ran fine with only a bent brake lever!makes me cringe now but I wish i could find the photos i took.still dragging beasts of with it and in the 6years i,ve had it i have spent a total of £600 on it plus it sits out in all weathers and starts every time-if you get a chance at one buy it voltage rectifier is only item that i,ve had problem with and i,ve replaced twice but they are available for about £70 now instead of £150 it cost first time it went

I have a 350 4x4 honda and I am really pleased with it, last time in Scotland had a big hind on the back and her large calf on the front had no trouble getting back to the track. That said I had a Suzuki quad runner before some Bars####ed stole it and that thing would go any place with its super low range and difflock.
Not on my ground, the sit ins are no where near as good as a decent quad on the hills, yes they can carry more but I find hey get stuck on steep hills and marshy ground, another thing I've found, you might have a chance of getting a quad unstuck, not so with a utv

Newer hondas are not a patch on the older ones, a bit like lots of things. Id say king quad is about the best bike on the market today. Lots of shepards have moved away from hondas and went suzuki. Mind you, some have went cf moto, coz the spec you get for thd price is unbeatable, we'll just have to wait and see if the reliability is there!
Now that's a thread revival!
I've heard they just run them until the warranty is out and trade in, or run them until they fail and buy new, some say it works out cheaper than buying the more established makes

To be fair many farmers/shepherd's will change bikes every 2 yrs or sooner no matter the make.
The Honda dealer i bought mine off advised to change the bike when tyres were done.
Personally I wouldn't chose to buy another Honda ( had 4 or 5 from new)

If u do go for a Honda make sure its manual shift.
The ES electric shift or the auto/ES versions are just an expensive problem waiting to happen
We've gone over to kymco now. Run them for 18 months now and for the spec and price , £6500 OTR they seem a no brainer. One thing to consider also is that they don't get targeted by thieving rats like the more established brands. We aim on running out the warranty then replace.
