Quick load help please.

Hi all,

Would someone with quickload be kind enough to run a load through for me please?
I have looked at both vhit and nosler load data and the charges are similar but the velocity data is quite different. I would like to know what I can roughly expect as my barrel is shorter than the test barrels used by both manufacturers.

The load is for a 308,
20 inch barrel,
Nosler 125gr ballistic tip
Vhitavouri N140
CCI 200 LR primer
OAL 2.750

I would ideally like to get a velocity of around 2850fps but this is not critical, just happens to be what my old load was running at and it works well for me.

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

GRT suggests not all the powder will be burnt in the barrel

look up p-max internal ballistics .very easy to use and is free.

The online internal ballistics simulator P-Max gives very similar results to GRT above, but suggests you can probably achieve your 2850 ft/sec with less powder and pressures that are not primer-popping.

The 'Powder space' here is the case capacity behind the loaded bullet, equivalent to the 'eff. case volume' in GRT

Velocity data from two different sources will always be different: Different barrels. different LOT of powder, different LOT of bullets. Quick load data will be an educated guess.
Add or subtract 100 fps to that 2850 fps mark and run the ballistic data. You won't find a difference worth sweating over. ~Muir

PS: One of my favorite bullets in my Steyr Scout 308.
