That can run this load through their system .
To see roughly what velocity I should be seeing ?

Thanks for any help 👍

43.5 grn of N160

Don't have the Yew Tree data set in my QL, but from the best I can estimate it should be approx 2785fps with 45000PSI (well under the 60000 max, which is more like 47gn/96% fill). Obviously don't go on these figures but work your load weight up watching for pressure signs etc etc.

Thanks for this
It’s grouping we’ll on the 43.5 grn
Not sure if I am pushing them hard enuf though ?

Proof is in the pudding - i.e. what does it do on the deer? I've not used Yew Tree, but my understanding is that they separate into petals and so I would expect this should be enough at normal ranges (i.e. up to 250m or so, quite possibly more).

I have a .308 load that I put 43gn of N135 behind Fox 130gn bullets. They are true monoliths, and mushroom rather than separate. Again, at the lower end of the pressure/speed spectrum but it is devastating on everything I've launched it against.

Even at full pelt (e.g. approaching 60000PSI) the QL figures suggest a top speed of 3000fps for your load. Your load is producing almost exactly the same as my .308 load in terms of speed and just slightly less energy due to the lighter weight projectile. Your projectile is thinner, so perhaps in theory more chance of it merely pencilling/passing through, but given the difference in construction, I expect yours will be fine.

Time to try it out, I would suggest!

Case volume is a key component in the GRT calculation. Do you have that?

Not Yewtree but some data from XXL for Virtus Merlin at 110gr.

Usual caveats apply.....

I have some data from Richard at Yewtree for a load with N550 that I can PM too of interested.

Richard @ Yewtree would-should be your first contact as he is super helpful backs his product and will answer and give you all the advice that you will need to obtain a great load.

As for pencilling through they sure won't do that they are a great projectile very effective sometimes brutal but just work and are the most accurate copper I have tested and finally settled on the TLR 114 in 6.5, I easily get north of 2900 fps without any pressure signs and no where near max load from a 22" barrel with Viht N150.

He did say n150 or rs60 but I’ve only got n160 to hand at the moment
Is your load out of a x55 also ?

I would have taken Richards advice as many have and it saves time money as he has done the hard bit for you, you just need to work up and test and find the 1 that shines.
x55 and a 6.5 CM and they both love N150.

Develop your load over a chronograph at your own altitude / climate . Concentrate much more on variance of the speed not how fast you can get the load ! I have used Quick load from way back but haven't bothered with it for years . Look only for consistency of speed and accuracy , then work your dope by actually shooting at all ranges ( remember wind dope will always mess with you ) but its the best way to create your dope .
