Quiz (for the mechanically literate).

9/10, got the maratabb (?) one wrong. Never heard of it to be honest.

I worked in Iran and took delivery of three 110 pickups all badged as Land Rovers but were assembled from kits in Tehran and they were badly screwed together with at least 30% of the bolts not even finger tight.
Not once was the word Marratabb heard or used. They were all referred to as Land RoWers as Farsi has no "V" in their alphabet...
Bet you never knew that?

If it ain't leaking it's empty.

if it ain't rattling it's either seized solid or fallen off completely..........

No entries for my competition yet. Come on Jappy Crappy owners/fans there must be some facts from their history apart from breaking the most leaf springs in a year or most times the drum brakes have siezed on the morning after?

Your right can't think of anything, they just do what they say on the tin, unexciting, uneventful, no drama

My Mitsubishi is twenty years old, almost twice round the clock, no major repairs , just the usual service parts
And still going strong, what can you say boring maybe but reliable everything a Landrover is not, and I know had nine of them before I saw the light.

I Got 7 but i did work on them for cash but not by choice I hate them AND SEE THEM AS bone shaking wet right elbow, right hand smashing ,dead left leg ( clutch) ,lumps of history that should be left in the past with mullet's and tweed .

That will be why I've never heard the name then. Marratabb is probably the name of the company that assembles them (?) and only used in the factory. It will be somewhere under CKD but even I'm not that much of a LR geek to memorise all those, close but not quite.

Maybe so, but a LR would now be worth more than you paid for it new

I thought the jap springs (well, ALL leaf springs under 20 / 30 years old) were EN 45 ?

8/10
having owned defenders for many years i no longer get visits from organised crime gangs that steal to order ,i no longer have that sick feeling when returning to the vehicle will it still be there ? my last swb 57 plate the engine died at 55000 and land rover contributed to replacement engine .
from a safety point of view modern 4x4 have become more safe and i need to consider other passengers safety ,what chance have you in a side impact in a defender
i still miss the defender but time to move on

gundog

Land rover,

If it was a rifle it would be Britons version of a Remington :( c

Bob
Bob the borrower strikes again....we have all seen the stuff you have bought & sold on here so i will regard your knowledge on anything good as being just a guess? (joke).

No 4x4 is perfect. All have their faults. Yeh the hilux are probably the best out there but the rest are more than likely are on a level par.
I've got a l200, i was advised by a land-rover mechanic who said "you'll either get a cracking one or make sure you have a bottom less pit on money" on any defender etc.
I do believe alot depends on how you look after, service, drive and how good your mechanic is. Yeh if you live in a more rural location things will become more of an issue instead of driving only in towns etc.

yes but it was EN 45 A (1948-1985 ) found you a Quote from a Gurkha re there knifes the best ones were made from landrover leaf springs or cut up railway tracks
