Im after a rough idea of how much it costs for sporting rights and stalking rights is there a going rate ? Any help would be ideal cheers

Not to be unhelpful, but anything from a bottle at Xmas to £XX per acre.
If you define the type of ground/lease you're looking at, there will be a plethora of knowledgeable folk along to advise.

It also depends massively on where you are in the country. Down south is going to be way more expensive than Scotland and by some considerable margin!

I read on here of a guy paying £7k per year for about 600 acres in Surrey with roe and muntjac, so thats almost £12 an acre and about the highest I've seen (though thats not to say there are other higher cost leases out there - I just havent heard of them). Equally some of the syndicates that come available in Scotland on here in the Stalking Opportunities section can be £4-600 a year for 3-4000 acres with red and roe. Rarer deer will also bump the price up - So once you start adding in sika or CWD you would also expect to pay a bit more. So dependent on location, acreage and species present anything from 12p an acre to £12+.

Also bear in mind that some leases will allow you to keep everything you shoot, others only some of what you shoot and some will not allow you to keep anything or is sorted out via agreement with the game keeper at the time.

There are also people who have stalking rights, keep everything they shoot and pay nothing more than the odd carcass here and there and a bottle of scotch at Christmas.

Ultimately only you can decide if the price and T&C's is acceptable and if you're prepared to pay it. Its true what the say though - the one thing they are not making any more of is land, and the price of it is only going to go up.

I suppose its like anything something is only worth what someone is willing to pay i just thought there would have been a going rate so to speak never mind

I did come close to having to pay for land once.
Then my mother’s Scottish genes rose up in anguish and won the day.
I still go stalking every weekend.
Its more about trust than money.

Aww god no its not a case of buying shooting permission i have about 6000acres i shoot on already that ive not paided a penny for im looking at starting a syndicate so im looking at securing long term or possibly perminantly the rights to shoot a piece of land if the places im on at the minute where suitable i would not even be asking this but im going to be out more or less looking for the perfect piece of land then I’ll make the owner an offer but I dont want to either insult some one with a low offer or loose out my self by paying way over the ods

£11 /acre seems to be the norm . But if you want it for deer control , rather than sporting rights to run a shoot - it is a bit high. After all, you are doing a service .

Out of interest what would people expect to pay for a day’s unaccompanied stalking on....
Roe?
Red?
Sika?
fallow?

I work in forestry and I have been seriously considering taking on some ground and either letting individual days or perhaps setting up a syndicate. Perhaps even doing the odd accompanied day, I’d love to know which would likely be the best value.

To buy exclusive sporting rights outright (freehold, in perpetuity) is likely to cost in the region of £300 - £400 per acre.

That's what I thought.
It's not so much what it's worth to a stalker, more how much it will devalue what's left of the freehold value.
