Looking for recommendations for a scope, which I am looking to buy as a present, ideally spend£4-500, must be new

Scope will be on a .243 and used for a mixture of range and woodland roe with the odd trip to the hills for red

TIA

Any further requirements? FFP/SFP? MIL/MOA?

Do you know anything about the preferences of the lucky recipient? For example, if he/she prefers a low mounted scope, that might rule out a 56mm objective, and you'd be better looking for a 50mm.

I’ve a GPO 3-12x56 and you would be hard pushed to beat it for the money. I wish I got a higher magnification and will more than likely go down that route again with a GPO

Even an idea of what scopes said recipient already owns might be a good way to narrow down what sort of scope they would like.

Hi

As I always say 'the eye(s) have it' in terms of optics - let your eyes lead you and not someones elses..............

Either of these would have high enough magnification for range use, but still be ok for the field and are within budget new. However perfect for the range is a comprise for the field and vice versa.
