Morning all, started the hind cull in the Cairngorms….and stags were still roaring last week, well a few were, not really holding hinds per se but a few still trying to look the part, and pushing young stags off….roaring on 17th November..crazy!...anyone else experiencing this?!

Did have 2018 and 2019. Rut time had been warm and the rut in Caithness didn't take off properly. Back with clients at the hinds second week of November and it was full rutting behaviour including stags serving hinds. J

Had a park stag going in December and getting nasty with it. Worried me as a footpath was adjacent to one length of fence. Quick squeeze stopped him.

Not unusual. Heard open hill stags still roaring in December. It’s mild, and probably youngsters going through the motions

The stags still roaring away, sparring and chivvying hinds on the hill South East Perthshire this week.

One upside is it is keeping some hind herds broken up which helps (a bit) with catching up with the ladies.
