Available: Red, Sika and Roe Stalking in the Highlands nr Inverness.

What the OP is offering here is in my opinion a very good and reasonable offer. Some of the new stalkers may not be quite so up to speed with pricing, and therefore questions need to asked. But a good many are aware and are always haggling for a better deal, or expecting too much from an outing.
I politely suggest if you need to ask such ridiculous questions regarding the price of a carcass, you really need to do more homework, or dig a little deeper into your pocket, or give up stalking. Some people are so tight with their money its a waste of time taking them out...………..they squeak too much whilst they are stalking.

Hi Malc

please don't you or anyone else think I'm having a go as I'm by no means tight with my money, at least I don't think so anyway! However sometimes I don't think guides take into account the other costs that we as paying stalkers need to factor in on top of your fees

£210 for a days stalking on reds is very reasonable I agree however on top of that for someone like me to travel up to Scotland and stay over for a minimum of one night will probably add another £100-£200 on top just in fuel and accommodation and that's without food and drink, so before you know it, it's going to end up costing us £500 for a days stalking all with no guarantee of success

For the likes of myself who's just a normal working man on an average wage it will also usually involve a couple of days off during the week too which then eats into what few holidays I get to myself during the year or if not my weekend and a complaining wife, however weekends are always usually taken well in advance by your regulars, which I understand is to be expected to a certain degree

I try and get away a few times a year if finances allow which is why getting the best deal I can find is important, it's not me being tight, I like most working class folk that enjoy stalking don't have the luxury of having permissions to suit different species, I do have roe locally but like most other stalkers I would also love to stalk other species that I don't have access to, however it is expensive for us

Again I'm not having a go and it's not a sob story I'm just trying to put our side of the story across as I've had conversations with guides where the costs started to spiral - stalking fees, shot fees, trophy fees, carcass fees, on site accomodation etc etc however equally though I've also managed to find some really good deals too which have been enjoyable, successful and the people I've met have been excellent, understanding and generous to boot

Not being able to afford £500, £600 or £700 on a days stalking doesn't make us tight £210 is just the start of it

Whilst I do not want to overload this thread with responses about my post I would briefly like to respond to the above post.

Stalking these days is becoming more expensive, and the demand is ever increasing. Good quality stalking can be had, and there are some very professional people out there. However on the flip side we also have some sharks too.
Any estate in Scotland like the one advertised with Red and Sika or Roe is not going to be a £50 touch. The overheads of running any estate, especially in the far north are huge. Its not just a day out with the keeper that you are paying for. To ask if the carcass is included is most likely a rookie mistake by someone who is not that familier with how stalking works. It could also be someone just chancing his arm? Either way this is no reflection on anyone on here.

Good value stalking can be had, and what is being offered in this thread in my opinion is very good value. Its up to you if you want to book and spend your hard earned cash. We are all in difficult times, full time stalkers and estates included.
I have a number of clients who stalk with me every year, some have become firm friends, one or two now guide for me. I have had all kinds of clients from all walks of life over the many years, and whether you turn up in a brand new Ferrari or a battered old Mini makes NO difference to me, everyone gets the best treatment and 100% effort to get them a deer. Not always possible I know, but in all the years I have been in this game I cant really remember anyone dissatisfied.

Its a business for pro stalkers and estates, the vast majority of clients its their hobby. There in lies the difference. If you cant afford it then seek another alternative. You should also take into account when the shoe is on the other foot so to speak.
For instance the client that phones, makes all the right noises and then you never hear back. Or the one that books his mates and himself, and then 24hours before they arrive cancel, like it matters little to you! Yeah right. Or the one that claims he can shoot the eye out of a fly at 100yds, and then proceeds to wound a deer and really couldnt care, yes they are out there. Or the one that gut shoots a deer on two seperate occassions, and then leaves without paying for the carcass, which is/was totally condemed. Yes that one was someone off this site who was told never to darken my doorstep again.

It takes all sorts to make a world, and believe me at times most Pro stalkers or estates see it all over the years.

No it does not make you tight, what it should do though is make you realize you can't afford Highland stalking for stag and perhaps you need to lower your sights.
Forget stags and take a couple of days at the hinds at average prices you will get three days on hinds for the price of a stag.

Very good advice, just as exciting and who wants antlers when ya can't eat them anyway.
