remington .243 770 or browning a bolt .243

Hi all just asking around for personal opinion looking at getting a .243 but not sure what one to get ,I’ve seen a few that I like there’s two in particular. there both about the same price maybe the browning £30 more both used they are the remington .243 770 or the browning a bolt .243 what’s everyone’s thoughts on this I want to use for both stalking and at range as I do both

I've never seen (out of a couple of dozen I've owned/mates have owned/run into at a range) seen a inaccurate A bolt.
They carry nicely due to the slim stock, the mag works and if necessary the triggers can be refined.
The 770 looks awful, but I have no personal experience of the

I've seen a fair number of both , I'd go with the A Bolt . As Rafter points out , I've never shot an A Bolt that didn't shoot reasonably well . I've shot a few 770s , they shoot OK , but the Brownings seem to have an edge and have a better finish IMHO .

I’ve not shot a 770, but have had plenty of 700’s - Great rifles and plenty of customisation options. I have an A-Bolt in .223 and rate it highly, in .243 it would be a lovely stalking rifle. I particularly like the hinged floor plate and detachable double stack mag. I’d probably go with the A-Bolt.

Presuming that both the rifles are in good condition then i would get the A Bolt.

I like the thumb safety and the very short bolt lift and, as said above, the detachable magazine.

The ones i have come into contact with have been accurate too. A friend had a Miroku which is basically an A-Bolt rebranded.

I’m pretty sure the 770 barrels are pressed into the receiver and not threaded. They were not a good rifle. The Browning is at the opposite end of the spectrum compared to the 770 in quality.

Just so you know the Remington 770 is absolute rubbish that has been discontinued so go for the Browning

I’ll add my 2 cents and vouch for the Browning A bolt. I’ve owned one for 6-7 years and it is remarkably accurate for the caliber (375)

Good point. I very nearly pressed the button on a Weatherby Mk V Live Wild. Can be found around £1500 for ex demo. A lot of gun for the money but I've decided to stick with Howa with an HS Precision stock.
I've just bought a howa in a GRS stock. It's excellent value for money and nicely accurate. Got no regrets buying it.
