Rhodesian Ridgeback

I do agree that some breeds ate not really suitable for deer dogs, but it depends more on the trainer/training than the breed

Mate has a ridgeback we intent to use for deer tracking. Still a pup but a massive thing at 12 months old.
Being a hound they have good noses although kinda cross between a sight and scent hound.
should be good to detect deer as well. I will update you when proper training starts.

My 2nd favourite breed

As a child I had a cross between RR and great Dane- soft as sadsa

Also jack Russels which are not

Both make good bush dogs breeds but I’ve not trained any to the gun
Eating sadsa and bush meat on a road trip, thanks for bringing back the memories!

my sisters neighbours RRs were definitely not soft as sadsa - barking and jumping to face level when you went to their gate - luckily the gate was 7ft heigh! That said, I am sure they were softies with people they knew.
