Rifle barrel fluting

I can get it done - I haven’t the facility to do myself

Two people do my fluting work

Paddy Dane or JAck Rawlins

Both excellent work

or I order barrels fluted at source

hope this helps

It is a Tikka T3X varmint .204. It has a twenty inch barrel, but is still heavy. I love the Tikka T3/T3X. I have a .224, a 6.5x55,the .204 and a T1X .22 rimfire, all are Tikkas . All my other centre fires have sporter barrels. I don’t /can’t carry a heavy rifle, but I like a .204. The said rifle was offered at a not to be refused price. I shoot mostly from a bench (target) or from a stationary position,(foxing). I still, would be happier with it being lighter. A rebarrel is a possibility, but I do not want to go down that road!.
(I have only just bought the rifle).
straight fluting, might be the answer!
Yes, I should have bought a Tikka lite, but an almost brand new super varmint at less than half price was not to be missed!! Hence the question regarding fluting.
Call me an old fool if you will, but it is a lovely rifle😀🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

To find out approximate weight saving take five or however many flutes you are after by the length 13-14 inches of steel rod 0.25 inch and weigh them perhaps not the saving you are thinking of other alternative is to have the barrel turned down to a slimmer profile
