Well it's not actually my rifle, it belongs to a close friend who has had a serious illness, but now better but is unable to keep a firearm so he has passed it to me to look after which includes exercising it occasionally. It will go back sometime.

P - just reading Nitroexpress and a description which sounds like it was from your good self about the action on (this?) rifle..are you sure this was made BY Rigby, or is it just 'chambered' .275 Rigby?

It was made by Rigby for my best mans father and have the case, complete with labels etc to prove it! It states on the case label - " commercial mauser".

Next time you are in Edinburgh come and see it.

Wilfred Thesiger's chosen calibre - he had 2, one made especially for him before the war and then he bought another. Both used for pig hunting in the Iraqi marshes in the '50's. He gave one of the rifles- his bestI think - to an Iraqi 'companion' Amara Bin Thuqub.

I have a BSA Hunter in 7x57, have used it for sika hinds in Scotland, and plains game in Africa, never had a runner at all with this sweet shooting little classic. I used 140 gn partitions and later 140gn TTXs in Africa. This rifle is exceedingly accurate, 3 shots into an inch at 200yds impressed the PH, as did the way all game dropped on the spot. A classic rifle caliber by a classic maker now. deerwarden
