Roe Rut 2015!

Called a nice little 6 pointer in on Sunday (19th) for my shooting partner. Came in a bit to fast for me to get around to so matey took it. It was the only one that responded in a heavy stock area of Gloucestershire

i called a young cull buck this morning in south norfolk but nothing else , tried 3 different bits i have and that was the only buck that responded.

Out last night south of Edinburgh.

Perfect evening: warm, sunny, still. Saw does all over the place, but not a single buck. Very odd- looked like I would expect AFTER the rut. Can this be possible??

Gloucestershire, nr. Cheltenham:
Saturday the 19th. July, PM: No barking, no sign of rutting, nothing responding to the call. Shot a young Roe buck which was browsing but it wasn't thanks to calling it in.
Sunday the 20th. July, PM: No barking, no sign of rutting. Roe doe responding to the fawn distress call but no signs of any bucks. Nothing shot.

Tuesday the 21st. July, PM: No barking, no chasing, no sign of bucks, no response to the call anywhere. However I spotted a Roe doe + fawn which seems happy to browse some 20yards away from (upwind, and a strong one) me and didn't take any notice of all the noise I made with the Buttalo.

Out last night, plenty of does showing with one responding to a call. I didn't see any bucks although my friend saw 3 but none responding to calls.

Thursday 23rd. July 2015, PM, same ground as previous three posts: No sign of rutting, not chasing, no barking, no response to the call anywhere. However I surprised an old Roe buck who was browsing, only spotted it thanks to the Thermal, managed to take it. But 'rutting'? Nothing.

North Somerset, 22/07 - no rutting atm; one buck seen, couldn't take him as he was in the field adjacent to my permission so I just played a bit with the buttolo, but no response other than to look up from grazing momentarily. Loads of does about, also disinterested in the squeaker!

Stalking with clients yesterday no rutting activity but did shoot one Buck.

Shot three Bucks this morning rutting activity everywhere you look, it's as if someone had flicked a switch.

On my ground you can plan for it starting around 23rd July it can be a couple of days either side of that but has never been much more than that.

The rut is just about to start here in the North of Germany...
Shot this old warrior last night, staying with his lady and defending his territory and her...

Atb and good luck to all the happy stalkers
